Which is better and why?  Would your answer be the same for Pubs vs clan wars?

To me WZ 111 looks better overall on paper; the gun depression is a decided major advantage.  But, I see a lot of 277's out there especially in clan wars, skirmishes and advances.  I'm grinding the 111 line now, still back on the Stuart, so a long way to go.  But I'd like to get some advice and opinions before I go too much further down the line.

For the most part they are interchangeable.  277 is faster and better AP pen. 5A has slightly higher DPM and better gun depression. I have the 277 but will soon free XP the 5A. Grinding a crew for it in my 112 right now.

277 has the mobility to act as a sort of mobile reserve in clan battles. Not that it sits back but it can switch flanks in a hurry as the battle develops. That's an important ability.

And if you have a hill first strategy on Himmelsdorf - faster is always better .

I think the 277 is preferred for clan wars because it has better mobility in terms of top speed, HP, and power to weight ratio.

Speed, power/Weight and gun handling is better.  Side armor is better as well,  WZ is prone to HESH penetration in between top and bottom of a track.

277 has exceptionally high terrain resistance though. You can't go that fast on unpaved surfaces.

I have a 277 and I love it. That being said the WZ looks like a really good tank as well. I know that in CW we use mostly 277 and 260s for pushing but anytime we needed tanks to hold a spot but were also fast enough to be flexible we used WZ.

I want the WZ but I have more pressing concerns right now. I have to get me a V4 because that tank is a beast.

Always interesting how the meta changes.  For Gambit, the IS-7 was the go to tank.  For Arms Race, it was the 268 V4.  For Soldier of Fortune, it was a bit more balanced with maybe the 260, 277, & 907 all appearing equal amounts.

The 5A is a far more comfortable tank to play. 5 degrees of gun depression can be a little tough to work with at times.

When in doubt just have both on hand and for competitive play it is always helpful to have a good collection of tanks to choose from especially when there is lock outs if that is still a thing.
