So we have all these fancy guns available that never really saw action, yet we dont have the 17 pounder? I dont care if it was a British design, so was the 57mm. Both the M10 and M4 need this gun extremely badly. The Americans are being walked all over by guns the Russians and Germans never even fielded!

Use the 105mm of the M4 and M10. Fixes your problems.

I seriously hate seeing these threads. The 6 pdr gun is also known as the 57mm M1, when in American service. What does this mean? The 57mm is also an American gun! The 17pdr though? It is exclusively British.

If the E series German paper tank & a Sino version of the POST war T-54 are in the game. Then the 17 Pounder should be allowed for the M4. Hell if your going to have post war tanks from the 50s in this game I want a Centurion with a 105mm long gun. Or give us a MkVC Sherman now.

Fun fact: Centurion will probably be getting the L7 in this game. The British teir 10 heavy will also probably get a 183mm cannon.

@ OP.

Really the M10 and the M4 NEED it?

You don't even have them and you now all about them!

So before you rant about a tank at least have experience in it first!

I love the M10 and only use 76 mm AT Gun M1A2 which is a very good gun and I am quite successful with it.

17lb gun will only end up doing 115ish damage anyway. While it did have much better penetration then the M1A1 or M1A2 it is still a 76.2mm gun and therefore with do 76.2mm caliber damage.

The 17 Pounder had Sabot ammo where the 76mm M1A1 & A2 didn't. The 17 Pounder Sabot ammo could penetrate 231mm of hard faced armour, inclined at 30* at 800 yards. It knock out Tigers in the front from 1000 yards. It had a longer barrel & higher muzzel velocity 76mm. It was a far better gun AT.

The L7 would mean I could knock out IS tanks from the front then. Good.

If the devs want to be realistic and screw the British over at the same time, APDS will do at least some 30 less damage than regular AP.

Well the Americans did use the 17 Pounder.

The Royal Canadian Armoured Corps used it. Were Americans, North Americans. ;)

But the USA did not!

There is a difference.

1. You are wrong on the M1A1 and M1A2 guns. HVAP was a Sabot round. A Tungsten core penetrator. It was not issued to M4s with those guns in large quantities mostly reserved for the tank destroyers.
2. I said it would penetrate better.
3. And nothing you've said disputes the fact that as a 76.2mm caliber ammunition. In this game it will when introduced most likely do ~115 damage a shot. This game they base the damage on caliber.

The 17 Pounder had a longer barrel. So it had more hitting power than the 76mm. So I should do more damage. Reguardless of caliber. Nothing will change my mind on this subjuct. The 17 Pounder was a better gun & should do more damage.

Don't worry, there will probably be plenty of British tanks Q1-Q2 2012 that will use the 17lber.
The Sherman Firefly is being planned as a premium tank. I imagine tier 6.

I'm hoping against all hope that the Churchill will use it. There is also a modified premium British Sherman called the Firefly that used it.

It definitely will.

Well a variant will at any rate. The Black Prince was a "super churchill" made larger to specially mount it, also had 150mm of armour. It's listed on the pre-alpha tree.
