Howdy ladies and gents!

Note: I held off on this one a bit because of the new Wheeled Vehicles. I wanted them to be included.

There is a point that I have spent a lot of time hammering over and over. This point being: that for ALL players, newbies and veterans alike, that it is very important to consider the benefits of Shared Research. Tanks that share module research with other tanks will help any player in their grinds. The grind speed of alternative branches in the same tree - or even the speed of researching in the same branch - can be sped up tremendously with shared research.

Today, I am going to cover the France Tech Tree. Grind hint for the tree - Unlock every gun on the ARL 44. This will give you guns for many medium and heavy tanks in the tree. While the low tier French tanks share a lot of guns and radios, they unfortunately do not share much in the way of engine researches. Thankfully, this does eventually reverse and upper tier French tanks share a lot of engines. Tier 5 is the 'rough spot' of the grind for this tree. It has very few shared researches coming into it from Tier 4, and just as few that move up to Tier 6, so this can be tough for new players. It does pick back up very quickly at Tier 6, though, with a bunch of shared research. For a new player looking for a tech tree that is easy to grind because of shared research - keep in mind that there is plenty here - but it is split heavily into 2 groups - Pre-Tier 5, and Post-Tier 5.

I will only count shared researches if it is an upgrade from stock for the current tank as listed below. This will be a measure of how many tanks in the same tech tree (including the tank you are on) that you can upgrade and/or help speed up research on if you decide to fully upgrade these components. This is especially true if this is the furthest you have gone in the tech tree to this point and you have researched no other branches yet in this tech tree. Also, keep in mind, in a couple of cases, an upgrade/shared research on one tank is a stock module on the next tank up. For example, the 120mm on the AMX AC 48 is the stock (and only) gun on the Foch. Aside from this, this tech tree is very unique in that for the majority of the entire tech tree grind, the top module on one tank will never be the stock module on the next tank up and instead will quite often be an intermediate upgrade on the next tank, until you reach Tiers 9 and 10.

Also of note is that it is not uncommon for 2 different modules to have the same name in many tech trees. For example, this often occurs with guns, where the only difference is one is for TD's, and the other is for Mediums/Heavies.

Thanks very much for this.  I wish I had seen it about three days ago, and I wouldn't have bothered researching the EM3/R61 on the AMD 178B, since I had already researched SCR 528F which can be mounted on the EBR Hotchkiss.  Oh well....

BTW, you called it the '90 mm F3' on the AMX M4 45, but the '90 mm CN 90 F3' on the Lynx 6x6, and I presume they are the same gun.

They pretty much are the same gun, just a new name to make you research it again.
