Howdy Boom Jockeys!
Check out these answers from the THUG LYFE!
How did THUGZ first start?
PrrplPplEater: THUGZ was founded on August 24th 2013 but we have much earlier roots with beginnings in other clans. The clan was founded by SirVex who remains Commander to this day. When he is away I help look over things along with Hitman279.
What is your clan’s vision?
PrrplPplEater: We like to have a relaxed atmosphere with good guys (and a couple of ladies). To stay competitive without having to have an overly strict ruleset. If you're already working a job why come to clan events just to work yet more hours? World of Tanks should not be another job. At the same time, some sort of competency and attendance is expected.
Hitman279: Judging by our pen rates id say our vision is 20/40 on a good day!
Nano_Cyborg: My vision for THUGZ is to fight in Clan Wars, to have fun doing it and not just sit on land playing Farmville. If you are wanting gold from CW this might not be the clan for you!
What is your greatest accomplishment(s) as a clan?
PrrplPplEater: Now here is a place where I would love to say "We have won this" and "We have won that" but we are not that clan. We do consistently place highly in all Clan Wars and Campaign events. This has been the case for a very long time and will remain so. We do pride ourselves on getting everyone Campaign reward tanks as long as they show up and have the proper tanks. This past Campaign we earned 78 tanks for our members which was the 8th highest of all clans on the NA server. Quite a good showing.
Hitman279: We survive ... think of us as the cockroaches of world of tanks we just cant be killed!
Nano_Cyborg: One of the oldest and most successful clans running on the NA server.
How is THUGZ set apart from everyone else?
PrrplPplEater: I doubt there is a clan more stubborn out there than us. Want to go to war with us? Excellent! We welcome it. You might even win the war but you will need time and patience. We don't fold like a house of cards. We have won many a war in the past just by outlasting and delaying a superior opponent until they just go away.
Nano_Cyborg: We love to fight, we will take our beating and we will keep coming back hitting hard.
How if any does your job or experience in real life aid your Leadership or ability to be a Competitive clan?
Hitman279: Well, in real life i manage 48 employees much of whom are high school and college kids ... so in a way playing tanks is like never leaving work!
Nano_Cyborg: Yes, mostly on how to deal with people. There is a broad range of people from all walks of life that you have to deal with. Most of the time I do try to be respectful if they show me the same courtesy.
PrrplPplEater: I own a business and have employees. Thankfully, I treat fellow clan mates better than my employees! It's all about different personalities, how they mesh and trying to manage both of those aspects at the same time while keeping a level head and being as fair as possible to everyone.
Your clan is part of a community of clans. Which clan(s) makeup that community and what is your relationship with them?
PrrplPplEater: We are a member of Evil Gaming, also founded by SirVex. At the time of writing we have 3 clans in our community that are rated in the top 20. I do not believe any other community can "boast" this. Fugitive [FGTVE], MOBSTER [M0B], GOONZ [GOONZ], Criminalz [CRIMZ] are our main brothers in arms and are commanded by Wally, Loki1968, Tjorny and Hammer_Tim3, respectively. ALL of our clans are ALWAYS recruiting, we have clans for all skillsets. We generally do our own things. If one of us is attacked you might stir up a whole hornets nest however! All of the Commanders, Officers and Members are excellent to work with. We might bicker every now and then like any family but at the end of the day we'd all be happy to sit down and drink beers with one another.
Nano_Cyborg: We are part of the Evil Gaming Community. It is made up of several clans. We try to help each other out when needed but mostly work independently from one another.
If you could change anything about the competitive scene in WoT, what would it be?
PrrplPplEater: I do not enjoy the alliance system in Clan Wars. It promotes more match fixing and pre-allocated land than ever before. It also requires a lot more diplomacy by clan leadership. It gives us too much to do and can feel like a 2nd job. Rank and file members fight the battles but if you are a Commander or an XO well...you have work to do. More than necessary and maybe a lot more than many people realize. I would also like fog of war on for Advances. It gets dull seeing opponents lineups all of the time and they have no real need to see ours.
Nano_Cyborg: I think Clan Wars need to be set up in a way that clans can’t game the system. More like blind battles like in advances. Also, need to need to make stronghold battles to have fog of war. Part of the problem with advances is if you know what the other team has you can pretty much tell what the other team will be doing with the lineup of the tanks. Part of the excitement of playing Clan Wars is not knowing what you are going up against. I do not enjoy playing advances b/c it is boring and predictable when you see the other teams lineup.
Speaking from your player experience, what differences have you noticed by going from a player not in a clan to being in a clan and then being an officer in the clan?
Nano_Cyborg: There is a big change in the dynamic of gameplay from being a pub star to team play. When I first started playing I had no clue about Clan Wars until I first started seeing people running around in the M60 tanks when they first came out. That is when I decided that I wanted to find out how to get one of those tanks.
When I found out how to get one of those tanks that's when I found out about clans and Clan Wars. As a clan everyone tries to work to a particular goal.
Going from clan member to an officer you have to deal with a lot more boring stuff. I never wanted to be an officer. I was just told to be one.
PrrplPplEater: I played almost my first 2 years clanless. I was just not interested in one. I decided to join one for no particular reason and I chose THUGZ again for no particular reason. I just looked at the list of top 10 clans at the time and it is where I ended up. I barely made their requirements as I only had 2 or 3 tier 10 tanks at the time. My evaluator at the time (Dierin) was kind enough to let it slide and I promised to get more, which I did. I consider myself lucky to have found a good home on the first try.
I never asked to become an officer, increasing responsibility was just given to me over the years and it was sort of like "oh, okay". Initial roles were easy but as you climb the ladder you have more responsibilities and many of them are sometimes tedious. You sometimes have to make decisions that may not be popular. You just try to do the best you can.
What is your favorite Tier 10 and why?
Nano_Cyborg: Conqueror Gun Carriage, b/c you can't have a pARTY without ARTY. Nothing makes me happier when a match ends and I get hate mail from someone that is crying that I Arty'd them to death.
PrrplPplEater: E 50 M. While I wouldn't necessarily bring it to Clan Wars I do love this tank in pub matches. It can brawl and take some hits. The shot+ram combo potential against appropriate victims is often hilarious. If only it had a turret…
_THE_HEBREW_HAMMER_: I love all my Tier 10's because unlike in tier 8's where i would always be bottom tier every single game that can’t happen in tier 10's. At least until Tier 11s & 12s come out.
Boo_Khaki: T110E4. Plays like a 2nd line heavy, with a ton of alpha and crazy APCR pen. I like making super conq’s cry with it.
Joel47: So many good tanks to choose from... Currently the Progetto. Very flexible in pubs. It's not a CW tank, but in CW my favorite tank is whatever the caller tells me to play.
LC50: Probably a tie between the E4 and the IS7. The E4 just cuts through anything, and its armor is just good enough to bounce a few here and there. The IS7 is the OG Russian bias tank - classic WOT that never goes out of style among all the flavor of the month tanks. Great balance for a heavy and Stalin-magic accuracy/RNG when the game is really hanging in the balance.
_LonG_GuN_NisA_: I like whatever the caller wants me to bring so in short i love them all hehehe.
Bfizzle: The 60tp. It's basically a faster E 100 with a better performing gun and no flat turret.
Ravager95: Conqueror GC because raining death and destruction is just fun, at least until the new changes take effect, then who the hell knows.
TITO: EBR 105, because it the best scout in the game with HE god ammo and can circle every other tank.
Random_Happenstance: T110E4 due to its versatility. Can be played as heavy or TD sniper. Reasonably fast and good armor. Great all around tank.
Any last comments? (Throwing people under the bus section)
PrrplPplEater: Thanks to 1984BigBrother, KRZYBooP and WGA for having us here! We are preparing a clanwide 1v1 event with the winner facing off against 1984BigBrother for World Supremacy (ok, that is a bit of a stretch).
As all of our clans are always actively recruiting feel free to drop by our TeamSpeak *with your in-game name* at vps114129.vps.ovh.ca and someone will contact you (be patient please, you may not be noticed right away). If you are looking for a new home, your first home or aren't terribly happy with your current home come and check us out. I cannot speak for our other clans but THUGZ is an adults only clan.
Our Director of Obfuscation and Measurer of Length: _THE_HEBREW_HAMMER_ (also known as Bigsniffin) is for sale to the lowest gold bidder. Please do inquire about him! He would do best in an anime friendly environment and NO LOUD NOISES. We will supply his helmet.
For M60 codes please message SirVex in game. I believe he only has 8 or 9 of them left so I would snap them up if you can. Please do not ask him about his time in prison though. It was a traumatic time.
