Really WG...was this necessary?  Having 3d models of WWII tanks on-line for modelers to print in no way effects your business.  If anything having those models available would help increase the player base not hurt the company in any way.  But it effects a lot of modelers who have nothing to do with your game.  These are WWII tanks that you did not design and therefore have no intellectual property rights to their likenesses.  This is a sad strong arm tactic that has no point other than to make modelers mad at you.  Please remove these DMCAs ASAP.

I'm not so sure about this.  It could be an overzealous employee, though they've bungled stuff in the past.   Looking at the models that were nuked, they look different than the in-game models and I don't think there's a copyright on the shape/form of a T-34, Tiger,  Sherman, unless specifically stylized (Fury, for instance, or cartoonish designs like TankGirl) or the actual models from game files (which those on thingie didn't appear to be) so while I can have my pitchfork ready, I'm not gonna grab it until I hear everything and why.

I expect bungling, though.   There's a proven track record of foot being applied to mouth with WG.

WG would have the copyright on THEIR art/drawings only.

Feels like we are only being told half the story. If the source material originated from WG, then they have every right to protect their property.

So is it better or worse than Wikipedia?

Interesting I wonder if this has anything to do with copy write laws in the EU some of there laws are becoming pretty damn restrictive.

I just found out about it today, and it makes no sense.  Personally, I'm boycotting the games (WoT & WoW) until I either hear a reasonable legal reason, or the files are restored on Thingiverse.  Tabletop games are more important to me than computer ones.

Considering the takedown included a number of armored cars, halftracks, and rocket launchers, this can only mean that 1.15 is going to be nuts. We're getting flamethrowers!  :great:
