I think Tier 8 is now dominated by experimental and paper tanks moreso than actual tanks that have seen real combat.  If you were one of the people that bought some of the older Premium tier 8's or god forbid an old tech tree tier 8, I am so, so sorry.

Most common line-up I see

TS-5 or Defender

Premium autoloader medium or T-54 mod 1/T-44-100

Premium Light or wheeled tank

Autoloaders are now necessary since one shot doesntdestroy wheelies. They basically are warpack on wheels. It either forces you to play a wheelie yourself or use something that can hit them a few times.

Isn't the EBR a wheelie and an autoloader?

You knew what I meant. Playing semantics doesn't add any quality to this discussion.

I hear the faint whine of a whine thread.

It's inexcusable that real tanks like the tiger 2 can't compete with made up tanks. Made up or prototype tanks should be at a disadvantage to production tanks in my opinion.

I've pretty much stopped playing any tech tree tanks. They are just so inferior to all the premiums. I would not recommend this game to a free to play player.

Isn't the T-54 Mod 1 a rental this time around?

They usually aren't too plentiful.

People seem to be moving to either impenetrable armor or Uber mobility-unfortunately, neither of those qualities applies to any of my T8's with the possible exception of the Progetto.

TS5 appears to be a more mobile T28 with better R0F, so you see why people play it.

Defender is as OP as always

T-44 100 is a T-54 Mod 1 (bounces just as much so it might as well be) with mobility-very appealing.

Overwhelming numbers of lights/Wheelies completely ruined gameplay tonight. There is simply no point wasting time/credits/personal reserves to spawn into FL and get circle jerked over and over and over. If this is the future of the game, I don't think it is going to include me.

Unfortunatly with WG's track record nothing is going to change. So my advice is to stop spending money if that makes the game unplayable then its time to find a new game, there are allot of better games that actually want your money enough to meaningfully fix problems.  At this point im no longer spending money on the game and at the rate NA is slowly dying i wouldnt count on it being around too much longer.

No, it doesn't. Anecdotes aside, it is so easily killed in almost all circumstances.... too slow to reposition, only good at a hull down defense, which does not last long. And heck, how is the Tiger II doing? Nothing says free experience like a giant unarmored German tank.

I accidentally got connected to SA and they had 2000 people online at prime time, they are screwing up big time.

What's really inexcusable is Panther II vs. Pantera. Same tier, supposedly same era, same damage per shot...and the Pantera has much better ROF, an autoloader despite that, and even better penetration than the 88/71. And of course the Pantera is the ridiculous fake. The 88/100 outshoots the Pantera shell for shell but makes the DPM /medium fight situation even more lopsided to the fake tank.

wthwas Wargaming thinking, besides trying to justify the Progetto?

I’ve played this entire episode with tech tree only.  It’s been painful to say the least.  I’ll be making a video about my experience.

I said the 88/100 outshoots anything the Pantera can do per shot. That doesn't excuse the clip fed, vastly higher DPM on the Italian remake of a German tank or stop the Pantera from tearing the Panther II a new one in any realistic face off.

The powercreep here is absurd. Why the $#&@ does this obstensibly WWII knockoff that never existed have an auto-reloader?

My default tanks for this mode are either the Carny AX or the T26E5P, these being a good balance of armor, mobility and gun, plus gun depression & being able to work a ridge line. If I owned a Defender I'd probably be playing that a lot too. Under special circumstances I might play the EBR 75 or Strv. S1, but not as the first thing I play. There's the additional reality that the only Tier VIIIs I'm grinding right now are the Pantera and the M40/M43 and I have mixed feelings about playing arty in this mode (though I had good results with the Lorry 155).

Look on the bright side; it seems that 1.6 is when the big re-balance is going to start and the German tree is going to get some love.

Maybe your Tiger II can't.
