is it really the best tier 8 heavy in the game? cause I want a solid tier 8 for credits and frontlines (either this or the IS-6 cause that doesn't see tier 9-10), recommended or not???

It's a tier 10 chassis, with a slightly nerfed IS-4 gun, at Tier 8. If you have enough functioning braincells to hit battle, this tank is for you.

Only strong part is the front and the turret.

I know this because I've shot at them

You've put this same comment on the other 2 current 252U/Defender threads.  Are you working on some kind of commission?  :B

Be sure you know how to angle your piked armor. If you try to side scrape you will not have a good time.

That's true. My 53TP eats them alive when they don't angle.

It is, I was able to pull out a victory facing 7 enemy tanks as the last tank on my team.  Yes, I was top tier and opponents were not all that good; however, I can't imagine any other tank pulling this one off.

Does anyone know if you can use a 20% off coupon on the vehicle/garage slot item?

Likely not, they usually don't apply to anything on sale or special, but it's easy enough to find out if you try to buy it.

id rather play the lowe with its much better gun, then the gun thats on the defender also the top of the turret is a good spot to shoot so taller tanks have an advantage over it

Every part of 252U is strong. The front is just extra strong. The lower half of the sides are an lS7. The upper half of sides are an lS4.  The rear of the tank is stronger than lS7.  The turret, is a mix between lS6 and ST-l. Frankly, you never really want to shoot at 252U, unless it is the last enemy tank left. Any tier 8 target, is better than shooting a Defender.

They took an lS7 tank, gave it a beefier lS6 turret, gave it lS6s engine, took lS3s gun and dumbed down the accuracy, increased the damage - and made Defender.

You never want to shoot at the upper hull of 252U, regardless of pike. @ 35 degrees near side from you favourably, the pike is still 247 AP effective. Tanks just don't have 247 pen in tier 8, unless TD. lt is not like lS3, or 110, where the pike sharply flattens. Defender was made cleverly, that the pike is virtually never a weak point. l wouldn't shoot at Defender or 50TP pike unless it was incorrectly angled against me, and l had 330-340 HEAT loaded.

Only thing you need to worry about in a Defender is your commander's hatches, shots on your lower plate (with higher penning guns), angled shots on your pike nose and front drive wheel, or side shots.

They're stronger than average all around. If you're forced to 1v1 them and your gun pen is subpar, you'll suffer.

It's pretty amazing.

You're a fool. I have the Löwe, the armor doesn't even come close. The Defender can bounce the Löwe. Here you can see a comparison of the Defender armor against the Löwe gun with APCR. The Defender facehugs you and there's not a lot you can do, you'll bounce even the roof of its turret.

It can sidescrape against some tanks though. In an 1v1 situation against an IS-6 for example the IS-6 will have to use HE.

Also 252U is better at hiding some weakspots than Defender.

Also the driver's visor. Lower plate is a problem at a distance but if you facehug they can't shoot it.

For all you that think 252U pike gives itself away as a weakspot.....think again.

Posted Image

The pike isn't like lS3 or 110. lt is made up of extremely acute long auto-bounce plates. And when it angles favourably toward you, they are still 62 degree angle, at 130mm thickness. The upper hull is never weak, and should keenly be avoided. Unless your ammo is 330mm HEAT.

You are 10x better off, in this situation just shooting the first roller road wheel, if you have 175- pen you will track it, and damage it. Save yourself the trouble, don't ever shoot upper hull.
