Maps.

 

You know you are screwing the pooch majorly when you implement a "map blacklist" and it is highly anticipated. Many other players on all manner of mediums (forum/stream/youtube) have made the point that WGing has somehow gotten worse at map design. Not only have maps been reduced to "that corner", "that bush", or "that chokepoint" - we now have less maps after 1.0 and have gained little in the way of quality. Erlenberg; my god, how did you manage to make such a 2 dimensional map out of a decent one?

 

New ones like Minsk are god awful (Corridor A - Deathzone - Corridor B). Many maps are so small that you are never out of view range practically (Ensk, Mines). You introduce wheeled vehicles on some of these tiny maps where they are basically ping-ponging around. What few maps have some acreage include massive open Deathfields that are obvious Deathfields that you only want to cross if you know relatively for sure no TDs are watching at 400m in "those bushes".

 

And now we get a 'reworked' Kharkov that has had many of its flank/escape avenues in it's Corridors removed ... so you can have 100% more Corridor. Yay. WGing would rather go back and start screwing around with all the tank lines again just to avoid map work which is really disheartening. 

 

I like playing this game, it's a competitive team shooter and can be picked up and put down whenever. But right now, I feel like I have more reasons (beyond just maps *arty/HE/RNG/tank roles etc etc etc) to just put this down and play something else.

WOWS is even worse.  I cant remember the last 100% new map introduced over there.

WG has 1 person working on maps across all 3 games but have a team of 823 working on premium tanks.

the maps are centered around the Russian biased heavies and tank destroyer

I hope WG takes a good look at which maps are getting BL the most and maybe release it to us. I think it would be interesting and useful for them to fix or create future maps.

not to mention Northwest.... damn those maps were fun. 

 

You hit it right on the head OP. they also took balanced maps and made them severely unbalanced to one side or the other. 

I can think of a couple since the HD map redo  that have gotten worse for one side or the other. Cliff, redshire and Mannerheim line are the ones I can think of the quickest. 

 

as far as the map blacklist it's pretty hard to chose 2.

there is Ensk, Minsk, Paris, Pilsen..... then Tundra is up on my list, same with ruinberg and himmelsdorf.
