I'm having a hard time choosing which gun to use on the tank. I like the DPM of the 100mm, but I like smacking people senseless with the 122mm. I've played around 20 battles with each gun, but I still can't decide which one is better. My best battle was using the 122mm but a lot of my ACEs were with the 100mm. Any suggestions?

100mm, higher dpm, more accurate, slightly better gun depression. Used to use it often in tier 6 strongholds.

I tried both, and I honestly hated the 122mm. Every missing shot is painful because VERY long reload, And poor accuracy means you will miss alot, even at close range (which KV-85 lacks a bit because poor armor)

I prefer way more the 100mm because you have the DPM and some more accuracy, and its way less punishing to miss a shot tbh.

Thats my opinion

The 100mm cannon for aggressive playing.

The 122 cannon for support playing or in a platoon.

didn't know there was any change in gun depression, but the tank's gun depression has really irritated me.

Edit: I just checked it on tanks.gg and it showed that the gun depression angles dont change unless you have the stock gun in which case it goes from 3 degrees to 2.80 degrees. The gun elevation is better on the 122mm though.

For me the 100mm is far better.  This gun is exceptional and makes a mediocre tank fun to play.  The poor gun depression is depressing however.

Another vote for the 100mm, for all the reasons stated.

I played the 122m all 3 times I went down the line. It hurts when youre bottom tier, but it pays off when you arent.

122mm. both have godawful GD of 3. so why not make it the one that can hurt harder? better XP per shot kind of thing too.

For a 19 second reload just use the KV-2, it's just not worth it.

The problem with the 122 is your kind of dependent upon everyone else to support you.  If you have no support anyone with half a brains knows they can wipe you out in the time it takes to reload.

The 122mm is something that's best used in a platoon, or surrounded by friends. You can't push with the 122mm alone. You can't trade with other heavy tanks with the 122mm. Your armor and health can't really support that reload and aim time either.

The 122mm IS really good at shooting Tier VI-VII medium and light tanks. It's horrible against Tier VIII Heavies like the Defender and even some mediums like the t34-85.

The 100mm is far more reliable, easier to shoot, faster, and you can trade with equal Tier heavies surprisingly well. The 122mm is a bit better for the IS, however, it gets a better gun towards the IS-M.

Once I had the 122mm Unlocked, I used that for the Rest of the Grind....     It gets you ready for the IS on Up as a Peek-a-Boom Style Tank since that's the Gun all the way Up, only Better as the Tiers Progress....       The Reloads get Shorter, the Accuracy gets Better, and the BL13 on the 257 hits Harder....

It also basically becomes the Tech Tree Version of the KV-122 at Tier 6.....

Well, strange question – 122mm is just unusable. Derp in disguise. Horrible at everything, other than alpha.

You seem to be a stronk player, so yes, you can definitely make 122mm work once in a while, but why kill yerself?

Forget about horrible soft stats like accuracy, bloom etc, but just the DPM itself will make you very inflexible. Yes, you can scare bottom tier guys with your alpha, but one astray shot and you could be wiped out by Tier 4 because your DPM is non-existent. You could get easily rushed.

But the worst thing is you are going to be even more at RNG mercy, which will get you super annoyed…

My 2 cents OFC

So it seems general consensus is the 100mm gun is better and you shouldn't use the 122mm without help. Ok thanks y'all!
