How does wheelie survive a 1k alpha shot?

All arty players have had those times when a wheelie jumps through an open flank and unleashes absolute havoc on the arty that desperately attempt to hit it. I was playing my M53/55 when that exact event occured.

 

I got lucky and nailed the attacker (mid air) and they survived it. I've done 500+ to wheelies by landing a shot next to them, but a direct hit on the side is only 2 critical hits and barely more than 450 damage.

 

Just for refernce the EBR 75 FL 10 has 16mm of side hull armour and the M53/55 with the 8in gun has 11.1m of splash.

Wheels can stop an AP round from a Jagdpanzer [edited]E 100 because of reasons, what makes you think they can't stop an arty shell?

Yeah they need to fix the spaced armor problem on the wheeled tanks.  I swear their wheels absorb more shots then tracks do, which is just silly.

This is one of many broken things about wheelies.  Another is that the auto aim targets the butt of the tank instead of center of mass.  But we all know Wargaming neve makes mistakes, so this is a “design feature.”

But that's an AP shell no splash damage. I've seen wheelies becomes black holes for FV4005 AP rounds.

This is one of my big issues with them.  This doesn't seem to happen on any other vehicles.  Doesn't happen to any other light tanks that I've seen anyway, just the wheeled ones.  Meanwhile their auto lock is overly easy to engage and hits ridiculously often.The frequency that the tires absorb shots completely or block HE shells is extremely frustrating.  I've had more luck just ramming them in my light tanks when they get close enough.  If anyone has other hints for engaging them I'd love to hear them.  HE just doesn't work reliably on them, even in the M41 90mm or the HWK 30.

I think part of the solution is to give the wheels an effective armor thickness as spaced armor.  This black hole of huge rounds is BS.

 

Another idea would be for HE to light the tires on fire.

WOT is a  game, not a simulator. But it had a slice of plausibility built in. The Mario Gun Karts have no relationship to the real world, their physics belong to UFO's all grounding to real life lost.

Proud Minsk boys will take their time before correcting their mistake... If ever. Maybe they are just trying to load up some REAL gold before shutting the servers down.

Well the failure of the British LT line they worked so hard on might persuade them to nerf the wheelies and see if that helps.

its more likely that you are shooting the wheel but the round passes under the hull, thus no dmg

 

had this happen against my wheelies and me shooting at the damn things

...the wheelies are OP.....much more significant influence on the game than arty ever was and arty has had 4 nerfs....
