So I finally got the Excalibur last night.  Some not very intelligent thoughts (more coffee needed):

- The HESH doesn't seem "all that" but I've only played one battle in this so far and it was at tier 6. What kind of ammo loadout do you run?

- Rammer is of course a no-brainer. Gun laying drive doesn't seem necessary so that suggests Rammer/Vents/Camo Net or Rammer/Binocs/Camo Net. Do you run one of those combinations or something else?

HE is bleh. Gun is meh. Hull size is horrid for gun so small. Everyone and their gramma focuses on you even without filthy XVM. Armor is inexisting.

But mobility is decent and view range is good, coupled with partial turret I ended using it similary to Cromwell. Some spotting, some sweeping, avoid big guns. So far I ran it with Binocs and Camo net for that, third slot for now is Toolbox because new crew without 100% Repair is nasty but I'll be changing it to Rammer probably as reload is quite long for such small gun.

Congrats!

I have: rammer - ofc

vents - to boost everything a bit when I'm top tier and go city to brawl a bit, or in the endgame

binocs - optics work too, but to me binocs proved better because I get better view range, and turret arc is amazing itself so there's not a lot moving once I'm set to snipe

Ammo... Hmm... I have 40 million silver, all tier 10 tanks in game and nothing to grind, so I mostly spam APCR. Though on Excalibur AP works just fine (despite horrid velocity), unless bottom tier facing tier 8's frontally.

Try to see what fits your playstyle and try various setups until you find what works the best for you. For me, it's the stuff above.

A little bump on this, as one just arrived in my garage.

I think you've got two equipment options, depending on your crew skills, and how risk adverse you are:

1.  Rammer, Binocs, Net

2.  Rammer, Optics, Vents

Essentially, option 1 is full sniper mode, and option 2 should only be considered if you have BIA, Situational Awareness, Recon, and you're running food, but option 2 gives a lot more flexibility of course.  Otherwise, without that, you're giving up too much view range.  Firefighting on crew would be preferred with option 2, but you might think its worth going without.

Also, this is very playstyle dependent, but then those equipment choices also dictate your playstyle somewhat.
