Poll: Silent as the Grave (108 members have cast votes)

You have to complete 100 battle in order to participate this poll.

Should Dead players be Silent?

  1. Yes, the dead should not be able to speak in general chat. They can chat in platoon and ping the map if needed, but otherwise Silence is the rule for those in the Grave. (41 votes [37.96%] - View)

    Percentage of vote: 37.96%

  2. I'm not sure. Sometimes the dead should be able to speak. Maybe have a time limit of 10 seconds for the Dead to impart knowledge, but then they are Silent. (13 votes [12.04%] - View)

    Percentage of vote: 12.04%

  3. No, the Dead should always be able to speak. They keep talking to the living giving tactics and advice, and the hate and vulgarity can be ignored. (54 votes [50.00%] - View)

    Percentage of vote: 50.00%

A while back Wargaming made the decision to remove inter team chat. No longer could you toss insults to the enemy, and it removed much of the vitriol and anger from the game.

Now, the major source is the dead player who instead of accepting their fate feels compelled to sling hate and vulgarity towards his teammates for their supposed slights and errors in tactics.

What do you all think? Should the Dead be Silent? Would it improve the ambiance of the game? I surely think so.

Vote and let's see if Wargaming listens!

People who like to use the "dead players don't speak" argument in chat tend to be the worst players.

I've guided people through battle and they have thanked me after.  I have spewed vitriol.  Silence everyone?  You sound like a true communist!

Yeah, but then you are forced to pay attention to people even when they hurt your feelings and there is no way to stop it. Well, that is, other than simply using the blacklist or ignore feature that already exist in the game.

Dead silence..i like it.

No dead chat period.

If one sides dead are raging and the other is actually giving Intel, that's an unfair advantage.

It really is a cheat by all accounts.

Plus I'm sick of the dead chat trolls.

And please quit telling me to disable game features

Thank You!

So instead of taking some personal responsibility and "disabling" the feature for yourself,  you want WG to disable a feature for everyone?  *confused face*

My thoughts exactly. Being dead gives you time to focus what's happening with the team in a broader sense. I would have lots of advice while I'm alive, but trying to stay alive makes it hard to type, so most of my chat activity comes after I die.

B) wot does not advertise come play our game...you can even disable features because of toxic scumbags

C) its a cheat against the fog of war..

D) wot won't ban these scumbags so let's disable their feature

A) then turn off chat, or temp block them for the battle, and you can also turn on chat filter(and iirc edit a file somewhere to add to the words filtered)  You've options provided to you by WG to help control your exposure to any "toxic scumbags". Use them.

B) There are several features of this game that are customizable to your personal preferences, including enabling or disabling them.  Chat is no exception to this.  One could consider this customizability a feature in and of itself, and is something expected of most modern games.  WG doesn't really concentrate much advertising on this, so it's really no surprise you've not seen any advertising like you're talking about.. oh, and,  note again how WG has provided you with options, which you can and should use to your advantage.

C) in your opinion.  WG seems to value the teamwork involved.   As such, you'll need to convince WG that this use case is bad for the game, in much the way WG decided that revealing allied positions in cross team chat was a bad thing.

D) Part of the reason cross team chat went away was to reduce the workload on the CS staff.  In addition to the mentioned revealing of allied positions, there was also other "toxic" chat.  The benefits it provided to the game were not considered worth the CS workload.  Same team chat, including for the dead, is considered worth it at this time, especially with the options to avoid the worst of it that most people are smart enough to use as needed.   Convince WG it is no longer worth the CS workload, and they may make the changes you desire.

Finally, if your greater concern is toxicity, why not ask for the addition of a feature? A checkbox to auto mute dead tanks might be a useful addition for you.

Oh, finally, a bit of advice to hopefully help you out until(if ever) WG agrees with you.  There were mods out there that auto mute dead tanks, as well as auto muting people via WN8 or other such metrics if you chose for them to.  Dunno if there still is, but you could look.

Ok you and WG agree that dead chat is good for the game. I see it as possibly an avenue to lose new players. Its obvious that you don't see any validity to what I'm saying. Thanks for your response. It articulates your points well. Not big on loading up on mods as well not a computer programmer able to manipulate files. I'll live with as is...

It's easy enough to block anyone you don't want to see but I've won too many games by either getting info from dead player or giving information when dead to have it removed.

You know what I hate? When one side's players actually fire their guns and the other side doesn't.

We should remove all the guns so teams don't cheat this way.

Dead players should be able to chat with eachothers, maybe even across teams, in a some sort of a spectator view but they should not be able to communicate to the players still in the battle, not in chat nor via map pinging. The 2% of actual tactics and support is outweighed by the 98% rubbish.

I'd probably be content with the fact that they stop dead players from continually pinging the map after they're dead... In fact, during the game, you should be given a 30 second (or more/whatever) time out for pinging the map relentlessly.  I know you can block them but if you're focusing on the enemy... it's distracting to have to do that...

This exactly. Can never figure out why the dead can't contain their frustration and feel the need to ping-spam the map.

To the OP...I hope they BRING BACK inter-team chat. That was almost as much fun as the game itself. Grow some brass nads and stop being such a snowflake. With as many games as you have, you should have figured out how to move a Coke can in front of the chat window if it (boo-hoo) "offends" you.

Limiting the amount of times they can ping the map would be a massive help. Nothing better than having some angry wallet warrior ping the map every other second until the game ends.

I pay little to no attention to chat when in the thick of battle... no time to give to the inane "orders" of armchair generals.

I was thinking the same thing... Perhaps they prefer the silent dead as they are the type of players that are at the receiving end of most of the dead man hostility.
