Hey folks,

I've just started playing WoT and I find I spend 90% of my game time waiting in the queue, despite the server population saying there are 4k people online.

Should I not be trying to grind a tier 2?

Thanks

It gets better in the upper tiers.

If queue gets very bad you can try SA server, it should have low tier bots.

If you have a tier 3/4/5 just play those till you get enough free xp if the queue is shorter.  If you don't your kind of SoL when the server population is really low when it comes to playing low tier tanks.

SA server gets turned off if the global population gets to low.  They also only allow 7 or 8 bots per side max so you still need 15 real people.

why would you "grind" a tier 2.  it shouldn't take many games to move beyond it.

Low tiers have a very low population during the week day times.  The best chance to play in tiers I or II is on Saturday Mornings and Friday Evenings when the overall population is much higher and there is also a greater likelihood of New Players starting off then, who would also be in those tiers to start.

I see your account was made in 2016.  Did you start playing WoWs or WoWP?

To avoid this long delay, you can jump to a tier III and the battles get more regular as there are many more players at tiers III and IV, plus you get to play against tier II as well.  As a New Player, tier III allows you a wider variety of: Maps, Players & Tanks, which means lower queue times while still being reasonably pitted against relatively inexperienced players as a rule.

At one time, I saw all kinds of players slowly going up the tiers.  And people in the forums use to promote this as much as they complain about arty now.  Really they should just remove tier 1-5 now.  They've given out a lot of free candy along the way to get people to move faster anyways.  Gets them into the zone where if you're not paying, you're suffering for it faster.  Although to me, tier 7-8 plays like how tier 5-6 use to.

I like to buy a tier 8 premium, play it until i have lots of free-exp, then use that to research my way up the chain to a tier X.   No muss, no fuss, no grinding.   It's expensive but my dad is a lawyer so he can afford it :)

I found if I leave the game on overnight and go to play in the morning the queue is all messed up. I just restart it and it starts to work normally.

Not my kid!

Better advice is to FreeXP important modules and low tier tanks to avoid crew training nonsense for small numbers of painful games - there are some very uncompetitive tier 1-4 tanks that will go from bad to terrible with 50% crew.

It is hit or miss when low tiers will get matches.  I sit in queue at low tier on kitchen breaks.
