Attention Tankers!

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy. This landmark event was one of the turning points of World War II and marked the opening of the Second Front in Western Europe.

This event is very similar to the Kursk event we ran in July 2018 but much shorter.  You will only need to complete 10 missions to earn the M10 RBFM, and 14 missions to earn the historical style "Sirocco."

For the full list of event details, click on the link below.

Thank you for coming up with a Mission list that isn't impossible (nearly) :) to complete.

So many I make to 7 or maybe just short of 8 because I have a small bit of a life off the game :)

This looks very doable for all 14 missions if you put in a little time.

Hopefully this is a sign of better missions to come.

(It doesn't have to be easy, but come on steps 8-10 required you to have no life and luck)  :)

Looking at the article and then taking a look at the in game portion seeing the rewards are not the same so I am perplexed as to what exactly we are getting.

I am wondering if this M10 will be a stand alone tank or will there be a French turreted TD line in the works.

Looking at the missions, this one seems pretty straight forward and should easily be doable for any remotely active player.  Fun little TD, might finally be able to do my French TD grind without a potato crew.

I approve.  Only regret is that M10 is not a derp M10 because derp M10 is best M10

Is this a premium vehicle or a reward vehicle? Essentially, does this earn premium credits?

If I'm reading this correctly, you can complete this missions with historical vehicles... It looks to include a number of lower tier vehicles like the 38T, B1, and Luch. Where as if you don't run the historical vehicles you have to play tier 7 through 10?

Might have to dust off the Luch for a little bit

Yep, dusting off some of the historical tanks seems in order.  :justwait:

Nice job Hambijon.  Very relaxed mission play compared to past events.  Should be fun!  I'm sure you'll get a lot of participation as well.

Should be fairly do-able.  Somebody in a different thread compared it to the T-34S mission set.

But ... but ... BUT I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO MESS WITH FRENCH TDs!!!!!

Oh well.  If it works, they can park next to my T59 and commiserate....  And that Polish bug-looking thing.  :)

@Hambijon (or any other WG staff that happens to read this) I heard this in the video but I want to make sure this is actually the case. It is stated that if you miss a day's mission (say day 1 through 3) that you can make it up at a later time. So, if this is true, can we, given the case above, play on day 4 and complete the previously missed days and thus be fully caught up for all of the awards (completing days 1 through 4 on day 4 essentially)?

"You can join the D-Day Challenge anytime after the beginning of the event and even take on missions for the days you've missed. For example: If you started completing tasks on the fifth day of the event, you can go through the missions for all the previous days and get rewards for them before June 7!"

Thanks Hambijon.

I can't seem to find the right code for this event though.

I tried "Sirocco", "Normandy" and "D-Day", but they are all invalid.

wow i might be able to get this ALL done!day 10 and 14 will be my tough days...day 10 will have meseeing NO TDs....and the 3 wins...hmm probably a 12 match losing streak. but a reason for me to do 2 weeks of pz III J and crom B matches.might finally get my cent 1 (cromB) crew to 7th full skill, and pz III J crew to 4 full skills!i have a bunch of the other historical tanks but i can do somewhat better in those 2.and it will be nice to get a free French tank...(Free French, get it???)

edit: code will be 2019WOTDDAY

Define historical vehicles for this mission.

is it m4, t34 etc..

Tier VII-X vehicles (except for historical vehicles)

This appears to be one of the best in-game events WG NA has ever put on.  Thank you for listening to feedback!

Positives:

1) Pays homage to history and encourages play of period tanks

2) Missions are doable, not an endless grind (on a major holiday weekend when people have other things to do)

3) Don't have to enter codes.  Hopefully we never see those again for missions that should be in the game by default.

4) Cool, unique reward vehicle with historical relevance.  Who cares that it's not tier 8?  More of this please!

5) Ability to miss a day or start late and still complete the event.  See point #2.

THANK YOU WG!

Unlike that horrible Swedish crew slog, I will definitely be participating in this one.  My grandfather was a radio operator in a Sherman in late '44 and into '45.  He was too young to be in D-Day but joined for the drive through Austria and Germany soon after.  Thanks for a great event.

Going to be a fun event. I was worried that missing a day would ruin our chances to get it. I like that WG included a way to make up for any lost time.

I'm a bit confused as to why the Pudel  is included in the list of historical tanks. Why not the Panther/M10?

I'm looking forward to this. Thanks for a seemingly doable mission.
