Finally, a mission that should be fun and not a long grind.  Of course, I'll be gone for the last 7 days of the mission on vacation so no M10 RBFM for me....:arta:

Free France forces on D-Day in Normandy

Ground forces

On June 6, 1944, the Free French land forces deployed on Sword Beach are composed of two troops and a section. There are 177 commandos (1er Bataillon de Fusiliers Marins) led by Commandant Philippe Kieffer.

In the early hours of June 6, 1944, four sticks of 8 paratroopers from Free France belonging to the 3rd battalion under Bourgoin were dropped over Brittany.

Free France Air Force

The Free French air forces that participated in Operation Neptune from June 5 to 6, 1944, are the following: 3 fighter squadrons and 2 light and heavy bomber squadrons (which had previously fought in North Africa).

Free France Naval Forces

On many Allied war ships participating in Operation Overlord, one could find some crewmen French Libres. There are four Free French ships (which had been almost all built by the British):

In front of the German coastal artillery battery of Longues-sur-Mer (between Omaha Beach and Gold Beach) are deployed the Free France cruisers “Montcalm” and “Georges Leygues”.

In front of Omaha Beach is the Free France destroyer “Roselys”.

In front of Juno Beach is the Free France destroyer “La Combattante”.

So pretty much nothing

Attention Tankers!

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy. This landmark event was one of the turning points of World War II and marked the opening of the Second Front in Western Europe.

This event is very similar to the Kursk event we ran in July 2018 but much shorter.  You will only need to complete 10 missions to earn the M10 RBFM, and 14 missions to earn the historical style "Sirocco."

Will we be able to purchase this if we can't finish the missions?  Just happens to fall right when I will be on vacation without internet access.

There's actually a location without internet access on planet Earth?

Where is this mystical place you speak of...

Those are places I intentionally take my vacations and there are not many left... :hiding:

Congratz on the 30th anniversary!!!

I have a hiding/mountain biking vacation spot, away from the phone/internet, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There are no cell towers in the entire county. Great place to truly escape!!!

How about Russkie tanks FFS? They fought in Normandy landings too FFS. Also, Japs FFS. And Swedes FFS. So many tanks that fought on D-Day are not present in this event, meant to commemorate D-Day landings FFS. FFS Wargaming. FFS...

What time of day are they available to do? It's 3am and still can't do the second mission.

ITs day 2 and day 2 not available - once again WG does not tell the whole story - does this thing only run during certain hours?

This seems like a good idea, but i have one issue with it, i dont think ill be able to do all 14 days. Im in school on the 14, and there is next to noone one the NA server at 5:30-6:00. if they could extend the mission playing ability for 3 days that would be a real savior.

Just in case you haven't seen it yourself. You can complete past daily missions at any day of the event. You get the tank after the 10th mission. 14th mission gives you the style. So even if you can't play on day 14, you can still get all the goodies for the rest of the 13 dailies.

With all my losses, it's apparent that WG doesn't want tomatoes to play in these special events. :(

Going to be a fun event. I was worried that missing a day would ruin our chances to get it. I like that WG included a way to make up for any lost time.

I'm a bit confused as to why the Pudel  is included in the list of historical tanks. Why not the Panther/M10?

Pudel is actually a historic tank and the version of the Panther that actually saw combat in Normandy. In game it is equivalent to the VK30.02M - which is an experimental tank so not available. The Panther/M10 is from The Battle of the Bulge - which was December 1944 so again not historically valid. Not that really influences WG in game.
