What does everyone think of the Caernarvon AX.  Nice DPM, soft armor is what I hear but over all do people who've played it like it?

I'm about to go down the British Heavy Line so I probably can't pass this one up.

I like ridge-line tanks and in my little experience with this one, I enjoyed it. You don't have to expose too much of your tank to take shots over a ridge and it reloads really quickly. Just because this thing is a heavy tank, does not mean it should brawl with the other heavy tanks. In my noob opinion, it's a good support heavy. I would recommend it, especially if you want to grind down the British heavy line.

If you have the credits and plan - as you do - to go down the line, then I certainly recommend it. It's the best premium British heavy. As Hoots said, it's not a brawler, but it can be extremely effectively on ridgelines. It doesn't quite have the DPM of the tech tree Caernarvon but it's still pretty good.

I've been debating whether or not to pick this one up, but I already have a T34, Lowe, Super Pershing, and IS-3A, and they all make good coin.  The only other tank I was thinking of was the Jumbo Pershing, and that does damage with cheaper ammo, so it should theoretically make more money than the Caernarvon AX.  Agreement?

In decent hands the tank can perform pretty well but that said it has a weak hull and the turret can be cheesed by gold spammers beyond that its a decent purchase unlike some other 8s.

To note:  If you're thinking about buying the tier VIII Caernarvon AX as a trainer for lower-tier British heavies, tier VII and below British heavy tanks have 5 crew members.

The tier 8 Caernarvon AX has 4 crew members — no radioman.  The tier VII British heavy premium tank FV201 (A45) has all 5 crew members.

Just somethin' to consider...

If you have lots of credits available, do it.

If you have other premium UK HTs, don't.

It's an alright tank at best. But not worth 9 mil credits when you could get the Black Dog for 5mil.

Have heard it doesn't make the credits of most premiums, and often loses credits. Nonetheless, going to try to grab one tonight. They supposedly sold out in 30 seconds on EU earlier today.

Yeah there's some other situations like that across other lines and countries too.  Even without premiums, just the lines themselves switching up.  Including who does radiomans job if there isn't one.,  Hate when situational awareness on your loader has to change to commander.  (Russia)

If it goes up for sale in the Black Market I agree. I already have it, so looking for the Caern AX for sh*ts and grins since I generally like the British mediums/Heavies.

It's not a bad vehicle to be driving around in. Decent credit maker, does have a very good DPM.

The purchase price for credits is a bonus, can be used in Frontlines and with boosters activated you will make the 10 million credits back in no time.

If I didn't already have it I would definitely buy it.

Decent upper front armour. Not the best, not the worst

Good turret. Especially good vs HE/HEAT ammo.

Very bad lower front belly. Extremely bad, like tier 6. Only 76mm

Very bad side armour, like a tier 5. Only 51+6mm Spaced

Decent mobility for heavy tank, 14.6 HP/T

Bad alpha damage of 230, but great DPM

Sub par view range, only 380. Would expect 390 or 400.

Excellent tank, for making creds, training crew, grinding FL, competing SH

I would think this would only be worth it to you if you need it to train British heavy crew members.  It looks like you have plenty of premiums for grinding credits, so don't buy it if that's your only consideration.

I will use optics, rammer, and vert stab just because of my play style. However, I do have a 4 skill crew for it as well.

I use Rammer, VStab, Optics with a 4 skills crew.  Gets past max view range and still has a reload under 5 seconds.

I'll give you the straight up skinny on this:

FV201 (A45) - Not a good tank b/c no armor but a rapid rate of fire.

Caern AX - If you can play the FV201 well, you will LOVE the Caern AX.  For me, it's the most OP Tier 8 tank and it eats Defenders and other trouble makers with no problem.

Super Conq - IMHO, the most OP Tier X in existence today.  Not much more I can say about it.

I'll give you the straight up skinny on this:

A45 is a powerful tank, misunderstood but nevertheless powerful.  People think of it as an useless Black Prince, because it deals the same 150 damage hits.  But it is most certainly not a black prince, having more top speed, more HP/T, quicker reverse, more view range, more HP, and surprisingly more DPM. The guns are the same, but A45 fires shots out 2 more per minute, basically stapling on 300 extra DPM.  All it misses, is the front -10 Gun Dep (-8 instead)  turret armour, 10 shots of ammo capacity,  and overall accuracy. Which l believe A45 justifies by having at least -10 GD to the sides, having way better hidden gun control stats (aim-time, dispersion, after-firing)  A45 stands as one of the few T7 heavy tanks that can try to match Tiger l 88mm  DPM

l prefer Caernarvon over Caernarvon A X. The alpha damage, DPM, side armour are important, whereas A X mobility gains and turret armour improvements aren't too noticeable. They are nevertheless great tier 8s, l'd say better than Patriot, but l think Defender is better.

Super conquer is a good tank, but has been regulated to secondary service because of FV4201. While it cannot match the DPM or health available, speed+alpha+impenetrable turret cannot be matched. Speed is too important for achieving the right hull down, the right place. And Super conquer has always struggled there. Super conquer, as good as the hulldown and turret are, still gets penetrated in CW by gold ammunition around the gun in a square. Where the armour is only 304mm, not shielded by the spaced armour panels. FV4201 removes that weakness, by being all but untouchable.

Worse than patriot but not a bad tank.
