The new host of WoT Weekly for several months now has been the bow tied Mike Lovan. He had an uphill climb stepping into the shoes of our beloved Meathead Militia and I think he has grown into a fine front man for the game.

His support team gives him a hard time, but it's a good shtick.

I'd like to see him get some actual scoops for the show though. Usually Wot Weekly is a recap of prior announcements. Needs to get more 60 Minutes for us.

We almost never see him on threads, I think that is because his main job in Austin is down in the basement shoveling coal into the boilers.

Anyway if you like him, this thread is to show some appreciation for the bow tied titan.

I'm a big fan of Michael Lovan.  I think he sells the dry, self-deprecating humor even better than Meathead did.  Plus, he has excellent taste in song lyrics!  :-)

Michael Lovan is the Mr. Rogers of World of Tanks.  If you, like me, grew up watching his Neighborhood then I HIGHLY RECOMMEND watching the documentary that came out in the last couple of years (my kids watched Daniel Tiger, the cartoon version).  You'll gain an even greater appreciation for all that he was and did.

Well done Michael.  Keep up the great work!

Hey y'all. Michael Lovan here in one of my gazillion video accounts. I always promise myself not to get on the forums but as usual I get sucked back in if the thread beckons me in some way.

Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate it - it made my wife and I smile. My baby was neutral to the fact but she's in a good mood, so we'll count it as a win.

I don't blame anyone that misses Meathead. Meathead was great - which is why I spent several years working with him and shaping the content around his personality.

The other side of the camera was and always will be my safe place - it's where I'm most comfortable. That's where you couldn't hear my lisp or my higher-pitched voice; you couldn't see the natural "this guy looks lost" expression on my face; it was where you could judge my work solely for my direction. It's a whole new ballpark on this side, and while I've come to enjoy what I'm doing in front of the camera, I'm not being directed and my personality is not being shaped for the audience - you're watching me figure out what works or doesn't work week-to-week, video-to-video.

So, thank you kindly for all the nice words. I really care about this community, and I promise I'll continue doing my best.

Also... Mr. Rogers is a personal hero of mine. He is literally the reason I learned how to tie bow ties.

You've improved greatly over the start.  I think you're selling yourself short a bit regarding your on camera ability.

Cheers,

Guido

Yeah I let Meathead take that joke with him when he left. But I have plenty of leftover duck.

Michael's doing okay. I think his on camera work has improved immensely since he took over from Meathead.
Don't expect the same schtick from a different person.
Embrace the Duck !

We must be close to the same age. I LOVED Mr Rogers and now my son loves Daniel Tigers Neighborhood. In fact he watched it this morning!

Godspeed Michael Lovan, you are a wonderful bow tied human being. Good luck in all your future endeavors! And ps, thanks for the TL1-LPC :)
