Every now and then there is an increase in XP to elite certain vehicles.  My friends have also noticed this on some of their vehicles over the past 2-3 years.  Presently, I just noticed my VK 1602 Leopard now requires 28,840 XP to elite it with the VK 2801 as the possible vehicle to purchase.  About 4 months ago, I believe it was only 13,500 XP.  It's kinda of annoying when you get close and notice it's not what it was before.

It's cost that much to research the VK 28.01 and elite the tank for a long time, way more than 4 months.

 

Edit: Looks like 9.18 is the update that changed the module lineup and tank cost (Apr 2017)

OK, I just noticed it today and my last account XLS file update was 4 months ago, so I missed it then also.  I have a few friends that got screwed with the T29 also a year or so ago I think it was.

When tanks change their relative position in the tech tree, they sometimes have a subsequent adjustment in their xp requirements because xp requirements are based partially on where tanks are located in the overall tech tree scheme.  (so that total XP, to reach a certain point by different paths, remains approximately the same)

So the answer, as already stated, is when the light tank changes were implemented in 9.18 circa April 2017, not "every now and then".  The Leopard had several modules and characteristics changed along with various nerfs and buffs.

Good on ya for keeping WG honest I guess, but tracking unresearched tank XP in a spreadsheet seems next level OCD.
