Howdy Boom Jockeys!

 

A new map for the Frontline mode with a current designation of “wg_epic_suburbia” is about to enter closed testing. The rules are familiar: there are six zones (bases) to defend or capture, and there are five large guns (the main targets) for the attackers to destroy.

The new map’s setting is winter in the suburbs of a post-WWII Central European city. Here you can battle it out in open patches with complex terrain, small towns, ruins of old castles, a power station, a quarry, vast military bunkers, and among lots of other stuff.

  • The first line of defense is chiefly made up of city blocks with some open passages and approaches. Expect close-to-mid-range fighting here.
  • The second defensive line is less urban, featuring large terrain folds at the flanks that favor bold and swift moves to take the best tactical positions. The power station in the middle is a true redoubt, being one of the most densely built-up parts of the map.
  • The last line (the zone with primary targets) has a mixed landscape with varied terrain shapes. There are military bunkers here, so large you can enter them to outmaneuver your adversaries or to fight them inside.

The map is currently in the works, and its looks aren’t final—but rest assured it’s a truly novel map for the Frontline mode you came to like so much :)

It’s too early to speak of the release date for the map as the testing is just starting.

Zone A : the defenders have a strong defense line from workshops and construction sites, but the capture point is located on a hill in front of them, where you can hide from fire behind fortifications and a monument.

Zone D:  battles take place in a valley from the relief around a mining excavator. The point is directly under the excavator.

Second Line!

Zone B:  A small small river separates the attackers and the point; the point itself is located next to the old church on the bend of the river. It is convenient to control it from the castle ruins located a little to the west.

Zone E: The key object is the CHP, for which the battles take place. The point is located on the construction site in front of the cooling towers, it is possible to influence it from a height to the east. You can get to the point of sheltering the structures of the power station.

Third Line

Zone C:  battles take place at the construction site of several high-rises, the point is on the road between the two buildings. To the east is open space for flank maneuvers and long-lumbago.

Zone F: the  point is located on the square of a small town in front of the town hall, which can be used as a shelter. It is easy to control the zone from the old castle located on a hill near the city.

The guns zone:  The guns are located on elevations along the whole line, between them there are zones of bunkers, some of which can be entered. The gun 4 is located on the platform of the mountain, to which you can drive through a bunker dug directly into the mountain.

Okay good, I can stop reading all the comments about the “same old map” at the beginning of FL matches. New balanced interesting maps = Good news!

Any new map is good, I suppose...unless you're talking about Minsk, studinzkia, Empires Boarder or a few others.  

 

How about making it impossible to destroy turrets unless you're actually close to them.  Maybe stop arty and arty/air strikes from being used on players in different zones?  Limit the types of tanks that can carry arty/air strikes

So. We got 1 Summer map. Now a Winter on the way. Desert map in the works too?

What... and miss the 15-20 minutes of pure gold that follows? Make an ignore the first 30 seconds of battle chat button, and you’ll have a winner.

So you've worked out the camera view for being inside a tunnel ? That's great and it opens up a lot of future map features.
