Happy Birthdays to

Nancy Sinatra who is 79 today.

Clarence "Fuzzy" Haskins is 78.  Got his start with the doo-wop band The Parliaments.  He is a  founding member of both Parliament and Funkadelic.

Three Dog Night's Chuck Negron is 77.

Country music's Vernon Oxford turns 77 today.

Boz Scaggs is 75.  He was an early member of Steve Miller Band before venturing out on a long and prolific solo career.  Toto was his session and touring band before they were Toto.  Some credit him for getting the band together because of their continued work together on his studio stuff and as his touring band similar to Linda Ronstadt's relationship to The Eagles.

Annie Haslam of Renaissance is 71.

Bonnie Tyler turns 68 today.

Tony Rice, bluegrass guitar wizard, is 68.

Black Flag's Greg Ginn, another guitar wizard, is 65.

RIP to blues guitar wizard and singer Danny Kirwan of Fleetwood Mac who died last year at 68 years of age.

Love the Black Flag tune.  Hadn't heard them in ages.

Happy Birthday Day Boz Scaggs. Interesting info about him and Toto Heavy. I didn't know they played together so closely. And apparently they still do, here's an ad of them playing on the same bill as recently as 2016.

Spoiler

He also played with Duane Allman.

Spoiler

And talking about Toto, here's one by them with Jon Anderson of the Yes singing backup vocals...

The Day the Music Burned

Shortly after the fire broke out, a 50-year-old man named Randy Aronson was awakened by a ringing phone at his home. Aronson’s domain was a separate space, a fenced-off area of 2,400 square feet in the southwest corner of the building, lined with 18-foot-high storage shelves. It was a sound-recordings library, the repository of some of the most historically significant material owned by UMG, the world’s largest record company.

A bit belated, but here's a shout out to Annie Haslam, prog singer, and DAMN...what a voice.  Maybe one of the best of the rock era, she just never recorded "popular" tunes.  Here are two of my favorites.

An ode to fishermen.  One of the most poignant rock songs I've ever heard.

Spoiler

A Protest Song.  Especially check out from the 5:00 min mark...
