Dateline June, 2019

In a low tier game full of TDs, the North Spawn team failed to win by cap.  Instead the South Spawn team (in a surprising turn of events) managed to out- cap the North team.  Veteran players of WOT will recognize this as an extremely rare occurrence.  How did this happen?

.

The North team failed to send a sizeable force to the "Hill" section of the map - which most players recognize as 'key terrain', opting instead to deploy in a method inconsistent with common sense.

  • While 1/4 of the team had winning on their minds and headed for the Cap Circle they were insufficiently supported.  Most players recognize that a North Spawn fast-cap strat, supported by tanks on the Hill wins 9 out of every 10 matches on this map.  Sadly this would not be the case.
  • Instead, the losing North side sent 1/4 of the team to contest the "Island."  Most players will recognize that the "Island" is on the opposite side of the map from the cap circle, which oddly enough is marked by a white flag within a circle.   Why they chose this is unclear, but they won the Island, and then camped it.
  • There were two tanks heading for the hill: a Tier 4 Medium and a not fully upgraded Tier 6 Nashorn.  While initially uncontested, the Tier 4 Medium allowed himself to be spotted and died vaingloriously heading for the South Spawn (rather than pushing up onto the hill).  Your Intrepid Reporter rode with the Nashorn crew, which stopped on the incredible death of his teammate, and then defended the entrance to the hill, securing 3 kills before being swarmed by South Team Tanks.
  • The remaining 1/2 of the team (a sizeable force of TDs and Arty) camped the hills behind the spawn.  Despite pings of "Help" from the BDR crew valiantly killing the South Spawn Reds (and dealing the most damage in the game), the brave defenders of the spawn stuck to their favorite booshes and rocks behind the spawn!

.

Sadly, the rest is history.  Low tier players focused on 'TDs kemp boosh' and Mediums and Heavies going off on a random adventure created a very odd result: the Most Imbalanced Map in WOT... was 'balanced' by bad players.

Don't forget: this is a game where most people like tanks where they can turn their "Turrents"

Every so often on encounter battles (and even assault) a big part of the team will push all the way to the red team's spawn. Then you see the dots on the mini map milling about in confusion because they can't find the cap. They must have been so happy initially to push all the way to the "cap" with barely any opposition. Then it slowly dawns on them.

It was 67 for a while (North).  Yes: I used hyperbolae in my OP

I haven't checked it for quite a while - and since the hack even the old links to the map balance stuff is poison

Loose is so archaic.  But if they are tired of firing so much, maybe they should drive tanks with high alpha rather than RoF.  Then they'd only have to loose every 15-20 seconds rather than every 2-6..

Oh wai.. they meant lose?  Lol.
