I thought the three rules of tanking were

1. Shoot things without getting shot.

2. Work together.

3. Kill the easy thing first.

You still have to WATCH beach.  Somebody needs to hang out on the cliff edge and keep an eye out for backdoor intruders.  EBRs love going beach to surprise arty camping near base.

3) Do not fire\shoot next to a scout as you will blow his camo and light him up.

If I'm the scout and some tomato sidles up to me in my bush, I shoot then get behind the tomato shield.

these are good, but they all fall under the one rule to rule them all.

DO EARLY DAMAGE

Everything else falls under that.  The unicums and YouTubers reinforce this mantra constantly:  Go early to the best location on the map for your tank (and skill) and do early damage before you take damage.

How is is that so many players do NOT know the first 3 rules of tanking?

1) Never park behind an ally\friendly.

2) Always split the team near evenly at battle start.

3) Do not fire\shoot next to a scout as you will blow his camo and light him up.

Please feel free to add to these basic rules.

Because nobody taught them, duh. The only way they learn is when people tell them what they are doing is wrong in chat.

Which the snowflakes also want banned now, because feelings.

Actually all I ever really think about during a match is:

Survive

Do Damage

Help Your Team

If you keep those in mind, then blocking allies is something you won't do.  YOLO Scouting becomes anathema.  Parking Red Line to TD Snipe would be something you moved to, not started from during a match.  Brawling would be more focus fire and peek a boom.  Hiding would be for spotting, not avoiding contact.

I like sticking with the basics.  It's like having a multi-tool on your belt or in your pocket.  It always comes in handy.

*do not park your giant heavy tank to snipe, next to my TD please.

I do not care, play your game, but do not screw my game up being so stupid. Your heavy sticks out like a sore thumb, my TD is hidden, they will be firing at you, and their arty will to, thus I will get damaged.

Yes, got to watch the beach, a TD covering, medium, something, but leaving it wide open is a bad idea.

This is a common misconception that has been definitively proven false by a "Tanking With Science" video.

The reason for this misconception is that Wargaming has published a poorly written description. A unit firing withing 15m of a bush negates the concealment value of that bush only for themselves, they do not affect the camo values of any other tanks. It actually is YOUR concealment value, you do not affect the concealment/camo benefit of that bush for allies.

No, its not...there are even videos on Youtube showing the blown camo of

nearby friendlies.

Those videos are wrong. Whatever they did, whatever their methods, they screwed something up and got the wrong answer.

Watch the "Tanking with Science" video if you want to see the only right answer.

Not a rule, and in fact it's a bad idea.

False. Completely untrue.

You have a long way to go before you start publishing guides on how to play, at this point in your progress you should be looking for others to learn from.

Pure BS. It's not a bad idea.

Sometimes it's a good idea, more often it's a bad idea. And if you start the battle assuming beforehand that the team should split to both sides evenly then you've shot yourself in the foot before the battle even started.

Also, if you READ my post with the information DIRECTLY from the Battle Mechanics - Global Wiki at the last portion it specifically tells you that this concealment drop is ONLY for YOUR tank, others are not directly affected by it.

Which is why I added it after I first answered -- to find I was wrong.  I don't mind being mistaken or wrong, however I DO mind providing that mistaken information as proper and correct -- so I corrected myself.

Please, go back and check it.

Early damage is nice but that's something different than what I was saying.

1. Friendly fire - isn't
2. Suppressive fires - won't.

3. Try to look unimportant; the reds may be low on shots, and not want to waste a round on you.

4. If at first you don't succeed, ping arty.

5. The enemy diversion you're ignoring is their main attack

6. Teamwork is essential; it gives the reds other targets to shoot at.

7. Never draw fire; it irritates everyone around you.

8. If the reds are within range, so are you.

9. Don't ever be the first, don't ever be the last and don't ever volunteer to do anything.

10. When both sides are convinced they're about to lose, they're both right.

11. When you have secured the area, make sure the reds know it too.
12. Incoming fire has the right of way.

Park in back of smaller tanks and use them as cover. Pisses me off when they do this. I'm looking forward and cammo up and this idiot behind me gets me killed and I did not know he was there.
