Ok, I know that there are two types of experience, the experience that you can convert (the star in the upper right corner of the UI) to what I call regular experience that is needed to upgrade.  My question is, if I want to get a Tier 6 tank and I'm tier 5 but I play a T3 tank what happens to that experience? Can I use it toward the T6 tank I want provided that it is the same tank line (ie. LT xp for LT)? ORdo I have to play the T5 tank OR is their another nuisance to tank XP?  I hope all this make sense.

Free xp is good anytime.

Regular ex is good anytime.

Free XP you can use for any upgrade or new tank unlocking, but only the tier 5  tank regular xp  can be used for the tier 6

Regular exp stays on the tank that it's earned on and if said tank is elited (having researched all modules and vehicles leading off of it) you can then convert the elited exp (just easier to understand than saying "exp on a elited tank" all the time) to free exp using gold which can be used anywhere, so the answer is pretty much a yes and a no since you need to first convert it

You have to play a tank in the same tech tree line to use experience towards the next tank, except you do get 5% free xp each battle. You can also use that free xp to accelerate the crew if you have researched all modules for that tank and any tanks next in line.

If you play a tier three (or any tier tank) not in line before the one you want, the xp will not be able to be used for the one you want. In addition, if any tank you use is elite (all modules and the next tank researched) the xp will accumulate and need to be converted using gold to make it free.

So what happens if I play a T4 inline with my T6 (i.e I'm playing a USA T4 M8A1 (TD) and I want to upgrade to the USA T6 M18 Hellcat) but don't like my T5 (M10 Wolverine) will my T4 XP go toward the T6 or do I have to have play the T5 M18 Hellcat or will my T4 XP count as long as it's "elited"?  My lord this can be confusing.

You would need to play the tier 5 Wolverine to get xp towards the Hellcat. If you play the tier 4 it will just accumulate xp unless you have accelerate crew xp checked just above your crew on the upper left in garage. If accelerate crew xp is not checked you would need to use gold and click “convert” where your xp on the upper right shows.

Hi SyFr,

I am also thinking about moving up that line towards the Hellcat.

How do you like the Tier 4 M8A1?

Any advice on playing it?

Thank You

Snail, it is fast and has a good gun. Find good spots, use vision and after a couple of shots ( or once you get 6th sense and see you are spotted) move to another position. Camo binos work well.

Remember, converting experience costs real money. Save the Free XP up to convert during a sale. 35% and 45% sales have been occuring every 2-3 months lately.

The better plan at low tiers is to use boosters (they can be bought, but you will get plenty for free during special events), and just play the tank you need the XP for.

General advice, once you get a tank to elite status check the accelerate crew training box. Otherwise you will accumulate a lot of regular experience that will be useless to you unless you spend gold. One could easily get so much regular experience in an elite tank that it would take an exorbitant amount of gold to make use of it all. But accelerate crew training will channel that experience into your crew, which IMHO will work out better in the long run.
