With the new July TOG marathon happening, I figured it is high time I re-do the TOG guide. So, this is Revision 7-3-19. The reason for this revision is just to bring the guide up-to-date with the latest meta trends taken into account.

The TOG II* is a Premium Tier 6 British Heavy tank. It currently stands as one of the most recognizable and most meme-worthy tanks in the game. In real life, the TOG II* was a prototype tank designed on the basis of World War 2 turning into yet another trench war. However, with the Germans utilizing Blitzkrieg, the TOG was essentially obsolete upon construction. The metal beast now sits in Bovington Tank Museum, and is visited by the Mighty Jingles on a daily basis…..as he needs to keep his TOG addiction fed.

The TOG is a ‘rare’ tank, and is not usually for sale. However, here is what you need to know before getting it:

PROS:

--MASSIVE HP pool. Is on par with some Tier 7 heavies.

--Very accurate, rapid-firing gun (17-pdr AT gun).

--Excellent AP pen on said gun. APCR is almost not necessary.

--Preferential MM. Does not see Tier 8.

--Huge ammo capacity. And the ammo is cheap, meaning you make a lot of money.

--Good turret armor (114mm). Can go hull-down if necessary.

--Good gun depression (-10 degrees).

CONS:

--Incredibly slow. Its top speed is 14KPH, making it the slowest tank in the game.

--The TOG is incredibly massive as well, making it an easy artillery target.

--Ammo rack is vulnerable.

--Hull armor is very thin, and will be penetrated consistently with no angling.

--Open maps are a death sentence for the TOG.

--It is the ONLY tank at Tier 6 to get Pref. matchmaking…only a TOG can platoon with a TOG.

The TOG is as recognizable as the White House….well, probably because it is the size of the White House….but that is irrelevant. What is relevant is that the TOG has an outstanding pool of health, a very effective gun, and a wicked RoF. It can usually outlast all equal tier enemies put against it, and can also put in some excellent work against Tier 7 opponents.  However, the only reason it can outlast the enemy is just by sheer health. The TOG’s armor is almost useless without angling, and it is relatively thin as it is. Add onto that the fact that you’re slow as tree sap, and you make an easy target when you’re in the open. As said before, an open map is a death sentence for a TOG, so play accordingly on those maps, and remember that you are too slow to try and help other flanks. Once you are committed to a flank, that is where you are for the game. And once you are killed (let’s face it, you probably will be), your allies can use your hulking wreck as highly effective cover.

At top tier, the TOG II* is a very powerful tank, able to out-trade almost every other heavy/medium it meets. It does its best at the frontlines, treading amongst its enemies and spreading tears where it goes. Use your huge HP pool to soak up shots for your allies, allowing them to return fire unharmed. Keeping your allies alive is the name of the game in a TOG at top tier, as they can cover you should you get flanked.

Mid-tier is when the TOG exclusively becomes a supporter. While you still have a Tier 7 heavy’s amount of health, you remain pitifully slow and weakly armored. Use your heavier allies for cover, and support them with tracking shots if you have to. Your gun has more than enough RoF for that. Preserve most of your health, if you can, but don’t be afraid to use it. You have plenty of health to work with. Also, in both top/mid-tier situations, utilize cover like a World War 1 reenactor…..arty will ALWAYS be looking for shots on a TOG.

For Modules, pick up Spall Liner, because arty/O-I/KV-2 players love their HE like their girlfriends in real life on their secondary computer screen. The other 2 should be Vents and Rammer. A GLD is unnecessary, as your gun already aims quickly enough.

Consumables should be the typical suspects. Use First Aid, Repair Kit, and Auto Extinguisher. If you want Tea, swap out the Extinguisher. Your ammo should be 104 rounds of AP, and 40 APCR. No HE.

As for crew skills (remember that you have 2 loaders), REPAIRS should be your first choice on all 6. You will need it, as getting tracked is never a good thing. Next, go for Sixth Sense, Deadeye, Clutch

Braking, Situational Awareness, Intuition, and Safe Stowage. 3rd round should be Jack of All Trades, Snap Shot, Controlled Impact, Relaying, and Intuition and Safe Stowage again. 4th Round should be BiA. After that, do whatever floats your battleship boat. The JoAT skill may seem odd....but that is because I am using the Twitch British Commander, Harold 'Nelson' Scott, in the TOG. Relaying is just to help the team with being able to see allied positions on a large map.

Some quick tips:

--Even if you’re top tier, don’t waste all of your hitpoints. Conserve them the best you can.

--Platoon with other TOGs if possible, A platoon of 3 TOGs has a tank-melting amount of firepower, and it just makes everyone on both sides happy to see TOGs!

--Go hull-down whenever you can. Your turret is relatively small and heavily armored, and going hull-down will hide your very thin armor elsewhere.

Finally, here are a couple replay results, as I don’t have any recent TOG replays.

--Top tier TOG on city map: http://wotreplays.eu/site/4380358#ensk-haxmachine21-tog_ii

--Using gun depression on the TOG: http://wotreplays.eu/site/3536447#widepark-haxmachine21-tog_ii

There you have it! Should you decide to get the TOG, enjoy it!

You can earn this by simply playing every day, it's not difficult at all.

You can do the missions in tier 6 or 8 strongholds so even less not difficult at all.

Which itself will be a month-long event. A single 25 km race consisting of one lap.

As haxmachine wrote, conserve your hitpoints. The TOG is a bullet sponge BUT its armour is pretty bad. It can wreck an enemy tank one-on-one. Don't expect to e.g. face 3 enemy tanks and survive - your hit points can melt pretty quickly.

lol. 7 wins with top 12 exp is a little more than just playing every day.  Especially when you can only earn 1 per day and must earn 30 of them.  But hey, you keep sucking up to the geniuses at WG who don't actually play their own game.

It bears repeating since it isn't sinking in: You can do the missions in tier 6 and 8 strongholds, as a legionnaire even, where every single win counts and you make credits. I'm beginning to think you are allergic easy. It's only hard trying win with an rng slot machine. Surely even you can find a tier 6 tank that isn't an arty to play?

Ever consider that some people aren't in strongholds?

Ever consider that they are really easy to get into?

Nope.  Always thought they were for clans.  I'll look at them now, though.
