No one has posted server statistics in a minute or two. Therefore, I figured I would poke the lion with a stick with this link.

but what about a middle road? not thriving/growing, not dead/dying.... just keeping on with the ones who are here? i mean look at WoWP,that has way fewer players and it still is going.why cant it just chug along?i intend to stay until they pull the plug in a few years,if they do.

It has to be said it's dying. It's dying a slow death, though. How long before the NA is given transfers to EU? How long after that that players are given transfers to RU? Then how long before it's 100% shutdown?

I don't have specific times for all of the above to happen, but I do believe it will be many years before it's completely shutdown. Look for the first part to happen once the NA server population reaches a low of about 1k peak. That might be the threshold used on all other servers. The final server will need to be reduced much lower than that, though. It's not impossible to think this game will be around for another 5-10 years, in some form, I think.

They'll be around as long as they make a profit.

Good grief.

I've played so many games that actually died or were shutdown:

1. Armored Warfare

2. WildStar

3. SWTOR (effectively dead, small population)

4. RIFT (effectively dead, small population)

5. Allods Online(effectively dead, small population)

Yes, WoT's population is slowly decreasing.

No, it's not dying or anywhere near dead.

EDIT: had SWTOR twice, meant RIFT

Armored warfare is still up and going last I checked?

Online games die after a period of time, this is just a fact of life. No online game will last forever, and WoT is no different, it is, however, still a very niche market of a game with no real competitors {Unless you count warthunder which I don't, or armored warfare which people only go to for the PVE component these days}, its still large enough to make a profit and sees several thousand people daily on any given server {While WoWP sees in the realm of a few *hundred* active at any given point} It's not "close to dead", nowhere even remotely close, but its numbers and registration rates are *slowly but surely* shrinking, though at current attrition rates they've got another 5-6 years easy before we start seeing real catastrophe numbers.

Does it really matter at all? I mean I feel like posts like this only sew discord and panic, like addressing the fact of Child Labor in China for a hot minute, it blows over and people forget like they will with this subject but in the end, does it really matter?

AW had a dreaded server merge:

https://aw.my.com/us/news/general/announcing-global-server-launch

I agree that online games tend to die, actually rather quickly after the 1st year (this is especially true for MMORPGs).

WoT has had the best staying power of any MMO I've ever played.

As long as Minsk continues to bury its head in the sand, stagnation and a slow downward spiral will exist. The base offer suggestions, but are ignored or flamed by the fanbois, change or fade off into history...the way I see things.

You "WoT Death Prophet" players really need to dig your head out.

Look at the EU and RU numbers.

WG simply does not care about NA.

The population is dwindling and the players tend to whine and want the game changed to suit them personally.

The NA WoT meme is quick success or derision and quitting, and nowhere is the Dunning Kruger stronger.

NA could shut down tomorrow and WG would still spend more time counting cash than all of NA does whining.

What seems to be dying is the NA server.

FYI NA is NOT the center of the WoT Universe in spite of what you'd like to believe.

Is WoT dead?

Nope its still easy to get a game.

Is it dying?

Who cares? When its gone this tanker will just find something else to do.

I played PC games before WoT, I'll do the same after.

Well if the statistics are to be believed, looks like it isn't dying nor is is thriving. Everything looks pretty flat and level. Am guessing it has plateaued out.

I love people who see life in only black or white.

When there are countless colors in between.

Appears to be a death by a thousand cuts...….but hope things stick around for several more years irrespective of what might actually be happening.

Regarding the stats link/page, I found this one to be rather interesting;

Correction and NVM - I see the stats were pulled on the first of the month - therefore this makes total sense - my bad.

New players registered this month:
0 (0%)

Wildstar was pretty fun and unique. It's a shame it closed.

You are actually correct, since WOT's largest and second largest populations are the RU and EU respectively, while the US is one of the smallest besides SEA {Though the US spends much higher per person on average than most of the other servers combined}, I'm not sure how much they pull on gross profit off each individual section though.

I think for WG they will cut servers out when all their servers in an area aren't worth keeping/ not profitable.

This was never implied as a angry post/ pro WOT shut down post. Just a discussion to feel out the player /forum population. I found the information on the link I provided interesting but inconclusive. Therefore, I would lean toward at least a few years left.

Open discussion inform and grows angry posts and political discussion entrenches.
