Last 8 battles today nothing but this BS. WG remove this garbage. I want to actually have effective armor thank you very much.

BECAUSE THAT IS WHY HEAVY TANKS EXISTED.

</rant>

Let me get this straight, you are driving a Russian Heavy, which has glorious armor at tier 4 - 6 and COMPLAINING that someone uses gold because most standard ammo cannot pen you? Bugger off! That is ridiculous.

If modern guns were still firing solid AP shot like in early WW II, heavy tanks would still be around. HEAT, APCR, APDS and later Sabot rounds are all so effective that heavy tanks became almost pointless. HEAT in particular doesn't even need a good gun, as many older low velocity guns were given HEAT shells to turn them into viable tank killers. The effectiveness of armour penetrating ammo led to all nations adopting medium tanks (later MBTs) and abandoning the heavy tank concept. Heavy tanks certainly have a place in the game, but their armour should not grant them the right to play stupidly. Best policy in all cases is to avoid getting shot.

"Heavy" and "medium" are kinda misleading.   The Tiger 1 weighed ~50 tons.  The M60A1 weighs ~60 tons.  Which one is a "heavy" tank?

Kind of how modern "destroyers" have a greater displacement now than WW II heavy cruisers did. Modern MBTs weigh more than the old heavy tanks, but mobility wise and tactics wise they resemble medium tanks far more than heavy tanks. A modern heavy tank would likely have to weigh almost twice as much as a typical MBT, so you would be looking at Maus sized tanks or bigger.

And that's pretty much it - the designation is not weight, really, so much as usage.  As you say, modern MBTs really are more on the order of mediums ... or maybe "heavy mediums" ... in most senses.  :)

That is because you only play low tier seal clubbing tanks.  Shouldn't impact you there.

It all depends on the size of the set of tracks, as to which tank makes your derriere look more svelte, slim and attractive... :girl:

There are no tracks in the world with a size and set that could make my rumpus look svelte.  :(

I'm also a little concerned that you would even know about stuff like that.  :hiding:
