Recently I looked into the M103's development history and discovered some interesting designs that came from the project. The most interesting of which i found was the H-1/2 Heavy tank design.

H-1 (2).png

Designed to compete against / replace the M103, The H-1 design featured a four man crew all located in the turret. The main gun was to be the same 120 mm gun on the M-103. Frontal armor was to 5 inch armor (127mm) angled at 60 degrees inverse. The H-2 design was identical except for armament, as the H-2 feature the 155 mm T7 gun. Weight was expected to be around 50 tons.

I think this could be a very cool addition to the American tech tree, with the H-2 taking back the american alpha damage. (Tier 10 T30 never forget) The H-2 would be tier 10 and the H-1 is a tier 9. There are some things that would need to be addressed. 127mm angled at 60 degrees is about 250mm of effective armor, while this should be fine in my mind for a tier 9, there are just too many super high pen TDs at tier 10 for this to be effective for a tier 10 heavy. As such the frontal armor for the H-2 should be increased to either 152mm or 165mm to resist the TDs better. For those who would worry about defeating this tank frontally in another heavy, dont worry theres still a pretty major cupola weakspot you can exploit. In terms of Firepower theres an issue with the H-2's 155 mm T7 gun, as currently on the T30 it has 279mm of pen. this is a little high for a heavy so the gun would either have its pen nerfed back to around 250 OR have really low DMP and wonky gun handling.

In terms of play style these tanks should be like the E75 and E100, Mid to close range sidescraping heavies with decent mobility. This would also further separate them from the current line of US heavies which act like support heavies due to their weak side armor. To better separate the H1 from the H2 the H-2 should also receive 10mm spaced armor covering the top half of the tracks. This makes the H-2 a clear upgrade over the H-1 as it better defeats HEAT and HE rounds while also makes the tanks visually different.

Tier 8 was a difficult tank to try and find that fit in and worked at tier 8, but i found a machine that can work.

T43.jpg

The T43 HTC, this is the original design of the M103. The T43 was basically just an up scaled T42 to feature a 120mm gun. This same 120mm gun is found on the m103 as the first 120mm. In terms of armor this tank was to have 127mm frontal hull armor and turret. The turret also would have 4 inch gun shield.

For WoT this would work as a tier 8 heavy. Compared to the T32, the T43 would have a weaker turret, but more firepower. Hull armor and mobility are roughly the same. The biggest issue of this tank would be it's 120mm, as it cant have the 242mm pen 120mm from the m103. Easiest way to fix this would be to give the T43 a low pen version that sits at roughly 210mm of pen. This tank would be researched from the T29, as the T29 is a fantastic tank and it really not that big of a crime if you have to play it some more.

im not a spy. *sweats nervously* Actually i got the photo off of the site Off the Mark, link here: http://otm-uswot.blogspot.com/2017/09/h-1.html

Off the Mark was created by WoT player who did a lot of digging for a whole US tech tree rework. I dont really agree with how he thinks the tech tree should be put together, but it has made finding some rather rare and unique vehicles easier.
