If WG spent as much effort and imagination on the maps as they do on peripheral sparkly BS like 'dog tags' and Homefraud, WoT might not be dying a slow death.

But I guess it's the green-eyeshade types who are really in control; the bean-counters who count and squeeze and interrogate every diminishing penny of revenue.

yup, maps take years to put out...but premiums come every month and new crap nobody asked for comes regularly.

People have been crying for new maps for years...we got minsk, empires boarder and a few other completely god awful maps.  They need to fire the map department and hire people who can actually create fun, balanced maps.  Not going to happen.

I'd like to see How It's Made do a segment on video game maps -- World of Tanks maps in particular. See how the sausage here is made.

I can't help but picture a bunch of blind parrots flying around yelling at each other....and then going with the worst idea.

The worst part is its 100% useless and nobody wanted it and there is no way to turn it off - its just an in your face yeah you got killed annoyance. How about:

1) Maps, moar maps, fix retired ones and try them out in a map test beta. The game has what 300 tanks and 30 maps?

2) Balance up old tanks that have been power creeped by

3) Be able to pay to transfer crew among countries

4) More camo options - hey will the German tanks ever get Afrika Korps' dunkel gelb?

Aslain's mod pack has an option to remove them.  Works great too!

1. --- How about jazzing up the maps with random real weather? Or night battles

2. --  Or maybe games where everyone starts at random scattered points around the map, and all players have the exact same tank, or just same tier? (Call it "tossed salad".)

3. --  How about being able to shoot down those fighters and bombers? (Points for targets of opportunity! And they can shoot back, and drop bombs on us!)

4. --  Maybe have games of all-artillery duels? (Happens in real war!)

5. --  Why can't we cross that river in Abbey?... How about bridges to those islands in Cliff?

6-a. --  How about getting smart game-designers who know how to merge talent and imagination with the profit motive ...

6-b. --  ... and stop worrying about having everything perfectly "balanced" to avoid hurting the feelings of the snowflakes?

7. --  How about you take your "dog tags" and Homefraud and SHOVE THEM.

SCREW THE SNOWFLAKES!

SCREW "BALANCE"!

What kills this game for me are the same f****** maps over and over and over and over and over.

Which essentially means the same moves, paths, tactics and traps, over and over and over.

It is becoming lather-rinse-repeat.

What difference in the long run, then, does it make to have a bigger--and more-expensive!--tank? (Actually, it does make some difference. But I don't think it's that much of a thrill.)

If all that is true, then why do I still play WoT?

Maybe it's a peculiar addiction of mine. I like zipping around with low-tier tanks and trying new tactics. (Seals gotta learn!)

But my addiction is wearing thin.

And it doesn't help that the WG/WoT designer-gods seem to go out of their way to tweak the maps at every chance to make them less fun, less exciting.

What is wrong with these people?

I'm pretty close to closing up shop.

WG pushed back the German tank rebalance more than a year, has added two new lines, a cheesy game mode trial, several premium crap, a ludicrously OP reward tank, dogtags, and I'm incredibly done with it.

Their efforts are focused on all the wrong areas to keep me as a paying customer. I'm giving them until the end of the year to actually rebalance the E100 line, and then I'm taking my money over to Warthunder if they fail to deliver.

Agreed. I am completely sick of all this worthless flair they keep adding to the game. What do these idiotic dog tags add really?

I just want the game to be improved. Better game play and more maps.

WOT had to cut back on the maps when they went from a nighty player base of 34,000 to what they have now about 16,000 on a good night. not too manny of them any more.

Maps take server sapce and server space cost big $$. WOT will not fix MM which would make the game better, we get DOGTAGS instead, sad.

So is WG going to implement a way to turn these GD notifications off or do I just stop spending any more real money on this game. They seem to rollout a mod every other week so you'd think they could have figured out how to actually disable in game notifications like they claim. Personally I can do with less notifications, missions, directives, campaigns, and premium sell pushes all around. Maybe WG could focus on just improving the gameplay.
