Hello, I am just starting the game and I want to hear what lines are good or what lines are bad. I will play anything except artillery, I await you suggestions.

Thanks- Kitty

Russian Heavies and American Mediums are great starters. I would have at least two tanks to grind at a time so that if you die early you will have a backup to play while waiting for the first one to get back.

Ruski mediums or heavies, they're the most newb friendly.

Yah, Russian heavies are a good pick. The KV-1 still works well and the T-150 is quite good. Heavies in general are slower so you have less chance to run yourself into trouble beyond your ability to handle it.  Going with lights is probably not a good idea as you need map and play experience to perform well. USA heavies are also pretty useful, although I haven't played any except the reward T14.

Russian mediums and USA mediums are also a good way to go. The T-34 with the 57mm is arguably best at tier, and the Sherman M4 with either the 105mm derp or the top 76mm is pretty effective. Both are pretty good all around tanks.

TD lines like the Russian going through the SU-100 offer big alpha guns, while the German line going to the Stug IIIG offer pen and accuracy. USA TDs are also good with M8 and T67 being mobile and turreted as are the M10, M36, and Hellcat. The turrets help and the guns are usually good whether you pick derps or the longer faster more accurate lower calibre guns.

Good to try a bit of all things. Personally I'd try to advance gradually along a bunch of lines and nations up to around tier 5. Some of the Italian mediums at tier 4-6 are surprisingly useful. I like the Ch-He as well.

Have to agree. American and Russian heavies and mediums are the most newbie friendly lines to start with. Welcome to WoT, good luck, good hunting, have fun, ignore the trolls, have fun!:honoring:

Russian heavies and American mediums are the first two lines I started with and I have been enjoying them. Would recommend.

As I stated at http://forum.worldof...0#entry12213620

The fact that you are thinking about this already is to your credit. That said, the grind in this game is not linear. It takes much more XP to go from 9 to 10 than from 1 to 2. So it is more efficient use of your time to spend it on learning the game better instead of trying to climb the tier ladder.

Get yourself a KV-1. In a KV-1 you can learn quite a bit about how armor works - and doesn't work - in this game. You can learn about armor angling and side scraping - and when these techniques work and don't. You will be able to explore multiple different gun options and how they give different play styles.

Get yourself a T-34. In a T-34 you will learn about being part of a mobile force that can use dpm to whittle enemy tanks down.

And eventually get yourself a M4 Sherman. This can teach you about using the terrain itself as armor in being "hull down".

As you get better at these basic tactics, you will learn what type of game play you enjoy more than others. This will guide you in your choice on if you want to go for tier 10, and if so, what line.
