I have been running Coated Optics on my Centurion MK 5/1.  With BIA, Recon, Situational Awareness and food I get a 509 meter view range.  If I swap Binoculars in for the Optics I would get only 462 meters view range on the move but bump all the way up to 578 meters while stationary.  Is it worth sacrificing 47 meters of on the move view range to get 69 extra meters while stationary?

(I know you can't actually spot beyond 445 meters and that the extra spotting range just helps burn through the target's camouflage)

Unless it is a TD, personally I'd rather see while moving,

No. If you can get 445m+ with optics, almost always go with optics. It's only with lower tiers where optics isn't quite enough to get 445m+ that I would go with binocs.

There is absolutely no reason to use binocs on any medium tank

Stick with the coated optics.  A med needs to move and flank.  Binocs don't help you with that.

OP per most of the others I'd run optics.  As you state, more than 445 will help you cut camo, but it's not worth the view range you lose while moving.  Especially since any movement including rotating your hull will reset your binos.

Thanks very much for the replies.  My inclination was to remain with Coated Optics as I seldom seem to be in a "sitting still" situation, where 578 meters would be useful.  When I noticed I could still get 462 without the Optics and 578 with Binoculars it made me think about it though.  The crew all has 100% concealment so I also have a pretty fair concealment rating for a fairly large medium tank.

I have been playing the Centurion in Front Line and there if you are spotted anytime after the initial Artillery Strike timer expires you are going to get hammered if you are not moving.  On many of the random maps the extra view range wouldn't be that useful anyway.  :(

I believe all you would get with binocs is the ability to burn through the enemy's camo.

Optics is almost always preferred unless you plan to sit in a bush for large portions of the game.  Glass cannon TDs and occasionally scouts.  Even for scouts, if I run binocs, I probably am running optics as well.  But that's just me.
