WINTERPEGER After reading your response and re-reading your original post, I totally misunderstood and I apologize 100%. I have now removed my head from out of my butt and "I can see clearly now the crap has gone, I can see all obstacles in my way"  :-) Sorry dude. My bad. You from Winnipeg? Went out with a woman for a few months from Winnipeg while I was working in Creighton, Sk back in 02 or 03. A few long trips. Also enjoyed playing poker at the Casino there. :-)

All of a 3 day ban for getting caught teaming? I thought this was supposed to discourage people not encourage them, oh well another game mode not to play.

Attention Commanders!

Yes, we are aware that there are some lazy trolls out there trying to team up in Steel Hunter because they can't "get gud" and progress like a real tanker. We're coming for ya!

Jambijon...honestly don't know if you're a paid employee, community volunteer or something in between but i realize you're not responsible for the creation of the Steel Hunter mode. It is however absolutely ridiculous to expect players to go thru this procedure to report players who exploit the failure to fully develop  this game mode.

That's the bottom line here, this isn't some "test server" where everyone know up front it's a test, a beta version.  It's fair to use a "special event" to gauge player interest in something new. It is however a FAILURE by the Wargaming development team to put out a product that clearly wasn't thought out very well.   It's not the first time WG has done this.  At this rate it's a lock that it won't be the last.

Clearly this was a response to the current "craze" for "battle royale" modes and maybe there is room for that in  WoT but CLEARLY not for a shoddy product. It should be pulled and  reworked...period, if not abandoned totally. WG should be fixing known issues in it's current crop of viable game modes, not doing this.

On the bright side, I have moved up to rank 8+ yesterday playing Steel Hunter and I checked every Solo game I played after the fact for clan mates playing as a team. There was only one game where I saw 5 players chasing me (and possibly each other) around at close distance and after checking the results of all games I only found one game where 2 players were in the same clan and it wasn't that same game. Of course you could easily Team up with non clan mates to make it almost impossible to tell. So fortunately I believe the cheating Teamers are not in every game. I'm guessing maybe 10-25% at best. I even had one game where I finished 2nd and we both lasted to the end of the timed game (I think) but he had more Health left than me.

What I do have a problem with though is that if I'm not playing the Russian tank, I have problems penning. But that is probably because of how I choose to play the game. I have played the German tank a few times and even when running across another German tank, my opponent always seems able to pen me from the front while I bounce shot after shot. Of course it probably has to do with other players levelling/tiering up during the game as I play more of a hide and seek game, which still seems to be working for me so far and I usually run into my opponents around the half way mark and later (hopefully much later :-).

It isn't just for "streamers" to report things.  They just don't want to have to set up a system to handle the massive volume of recorded vids.  If you have a youtube account, you can download an application like bandicam (for free), record your battle, and even use a hotkey to start recording.  Then you upload it to youtube and send the link in the reporting process.

The wording of it appears to be a bad translation.  They just want the files to be in a form that THEY can see via streaming without downloading it or offering a place to store peta bites of video.  Yes, if you record in "HD" quality a single file is a couple GB for a battle.  Wargaming doesn't have the infrastructure (or storage) to host all of this while also looking out for virus riddled files.  So Wargaming is using what ever streaming service you upload it to as a middle man.

What is Teaming?

Teaming: Refers to forming teams outside what is allowed by the Steel Hunter mode.
Intentional teaming between players or other teams in ways that the Steel Hunter game mode does not presuppose is considered unsportsmanlike behavior, and penalties will be imposed.

This rule is effective immediately.

Penalties for Teaming Offenses

  • 1st attempt: 3 days' game ban
  • 2nd attempt: 7 days' game ban
  • 3rd attempt: Game ban until the end of Steel Hunter; minimum of 7 days (may continue even after the end of the event)

How to Report Teaming Offenses

Since Steel Hunter doesn't allow in-game replays, the only way to report Teaming offenses is through stream recordings.

Please send a ticket to our Customer Support team with the following information:

  • Reported player IGNs
  • Link to a stream video (Youtube, Twitch, etc) with timestamp (e.g. from XX:00 ~ XX:00) of the relevant offense
  • Screenshot of the final leaderboard of the match

Click here to send in a ticket

Well, I can't call you stupid since you just put out the info here, but please do pass it up the chain that the individual(s) that designed/implemented this game mode lack any kind of foresight in regards to game design in general. I can't imagine how nobody didn't see this coming... I guess we'll just have to settle for hollow threats and let players keep exploiting it until WG actually fixes it. Sometimes I wonder if WG doesn't deliberately let nonsense like this slip by, because I can't see it being anything else other than abject stupidity. Doesn't anyone believe in practicing proactivity anymore? Granted, you can't prepare for everything, but this was rather obvious and should've been evident in testing(assuming it was tested).

My rig's resources have more important things to do rather than taking on the additional workload of streaming WoT for the purpose of being a watchdog for WG in Steel Hunter.

If teaming is such a problem in Steel Hunter, disable the mode until it is fixed. All they really need to do is have the names disabled/hidden during the match and only displayed after it ends. Sheesh, how hard is it to give everyone a number in place of their name during the match? Someone worried about just being a number "2" in the match? Oh, and it would help to be able to save replays so streaming isn't necessary in order to hold cheaters & such accountable. Well, this was my "ffs" for the week... :P

Don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, but latest Aslain's pack has a mod the fixes/enables replays for Steel Hunter.  Only bug seems to be Skipping time backwards crashes.

Here's an example complete with teaming at around 12:00  Example Replay

So now that we can record replay's of teaming, will support be accepting those on top of video streams?

I dropped out of it the second I identified the scumbags, esp. the T-22 rigger trash, were rigging the mode.  ~8 battles and I stopped

[edited]people, you all act like you never ended up on the same team in the same battle as a clansman or friend. If I were in a clan and one of them ended up in the same match, I would dam sure team up for an advantage. I read NOTHING in the mode description that said I couldn't use a tactic that the mode hadn't considered. It did not say anywhere that I seen, "oh, if you see 2 other players and you and  player 2 both fire on player 3, (focus fire - it gets pounded into us to do it in random or team mode battles) and after he dies, you both elect not to engage each other until you get health back, if I realized he let me be just as I let him be, I would shadow him to see if we could focus fire another, or if I could get a better advantage on him if he took a few more hits. I never seen it mentioned at all in the mode description being illegal, and if I had seen a friend in the same match, I dammed sure would have tried hooking up for the rest of the match. Any of you that say you would not have before they specifically made the rule, AFTER the mode started. I still don't know what specifically constitutes "teaming" in this instance. If it's focus firing on the weaker of 2 or 3 targets, and then running away from the stronger survivor, yes I've done that, and I guess if thats teaming. I'll get a 3 day ban and stop playing the mode. Whats  "attempting teaming"? Focus firing one or two of multiple tanks to death, and then getting killed by the other tank that was focusing the same tanks you were? How a bout the last 5 tanks end up in a small area and everyone keeps focusing down the weakest tanks, Then are the last 2 tanks banned for teaming. So now if you have a clan tagg, and end up in a match with a clansman, you are sure as hell getting reported by some little [edited]thats recording. And all in all, how is this any different than 3 man platoons of unicums it OP tier 2 or 3 tanks in randoms. So many Hippocrates here in this game. This is why I am avoiding trying out clans. Well and I also pretty much suck and don't want to deal with being rejected in a game, i get enough of that at the bars, LOL

the edits above were for colorful language of mine, I'm sorry, I was inconsiderate of that, I'll be more cautious in the future. But now the more I think about this whole subject, and keep seeing "Twitch deal here", "twitch deal there", "must be a streaming recording", If I were a conspiracy nut kind of person (I am) my gears would be turning. What's next in announcements? "All the Cheater video replays can be seen here on Amazon Prime, and we'll give you a tier 1 premium just for watching". lmbo. lol just saying

Gotti Listen up. Teaming is pretty simple. It has already been explained in posts. Steel Hunter mode is a different animal than any other mode in WOT. The SOLO mode is supposed to be 20 solo players trying to defeat each other and last as long as possible. The PLATOON  mode is for teams of 3 players to team up for a total of 7 teams and 21 players. In Random yes you can platoon and you can also SYNC DROP  in random games. In Random games clans/friends get on Team Speak or Discord or such and they communicate with each other to swarm players on the enemy team and focus fire. However in Random play there is a 50-50 chance (and maybe more) that your clan mates/friends will end up on opposite teams. What is happening in Steel Hunter mode is players are SYNC DROPPING into SOLO and even PLATOON mode and gaining a huge and unfair advantage. In Steel Hunter mode by communicating with your clan mates/buddies you can team up very quickly if you spawn close to each other. The only downside is that the drops you can acquire only go to the player that gets on them for 4-5 seconds. There is no way to tell during the game if this is what is happening as far as I know other than being the victim of Teaming players. Only by checking the after game DETAILS can you see if there were clan mates in the game. The same is happening in PLATOON mode too where 2 or more teams of 3 from the same clan are SYNC DROPPING and teaming up. I have only played SOLO mode and I suspect there has been the odd TEAMING happening but when I have taken the time to check the results after the game I only found one instance where there were 2 players from the same clan among the 20. However there is the 1 poster that posted a screen shot of 6 [TONKX] clan mates in the same 20 player game. How fair and how much would it be to run into 6 players playing together and swarming your butt and a game mode that is by definition supposed to be played as a SOLO player?

BUMP

There are mods that allow replay retention.  However we can't help troubleshoot third party stuff, but you can find instructions on Reddit.

Even with the notice from WG about "teaming" it doesn't seem to have decreased. I only played three battles yesterday and quit in disgust.

The first one I was chased down by two "teamers", and lost 2 chevrons, so back to level 5... again.  Next battle I gained a chevron and some hope. Next battle I encountered 3 teamers, one was collecting the drop I had headed toward, and the two others standing guard. All three of them chased me down when they spotted me, and I lost the chevron I gained.

The cheaters are raking in thousands and thousands of bonds to the detriment of fair players. I decided the last thing I want to do is play the mode and help them collect their ill gotten gains, so that's it for me as far as Steel Hunter goes. The cheaters can fight it out against the other cheaters, the frustration is just not worth the few bonds I have managed to earn.

This event is so dam rigged against the fair players.  This event should be shut down. Im so sick and tried of be jump by 3 to 7 tanks when I going after a ammo, supply , air drop or even when Im going against another tank. Dam wallet warriors and cheaters r raking in the goodies and screwing over the other players.

JUST END THE WORTHLESS [edited]EVENT

From the replays I've seen, there seems to be a lot of confusion in terms of teaming.  Sometimes you get caught in the cross fire and it sucks, but that doesn't mean they were teaming, just taking their shots to get their XP.  It's a race to get better modules and it can be chaos.  This is why we don't want to assume just from screenshots that players were teaming and why the replays are necessary.  For the record, people that have been caught teaming have been met with pretty severe consequences and risk their account over a limited time event.

I understand that not having the replays enabled by default is bull crap.  However, this was a move our devs made to ensure the mode was stable since discrepancies were found with replays enabled.  That said, we will accept replays from the mod that has been floating around, and if you have recording software like Windows 10 capture function (WIN + G) or NVIDIA Shadow Play/highlights it's pretty simple to record if you are adamant on getting these people banned.

Since we have all information available in the original post/thread, I'll close this down and pin it for the event.  Still feel free to reach out to us or Customer Support.

GLHF!
