Deaths

 

Keith Moon who died in 1978 at 32 years of age from a drug overdose of clomethiazole.  It's a medication used to help alleviate symptoms of alcohol withdrawal as Moon was trying to get sober.  He died in a flat rented from Harry Nilsson who was reluctant to rent it from him thinking it cursed.  Cass Elliot had died there 4 years earlier of a heart attack also 32 at the time of her death.

 

Warren Zevon who passed at 56 years of age in 2003 from mesothelioma a form of cancer usually caused by asbestos exposure.

 

Birthdays

 

Little Milton blues singer and guitarist born in 1934.  Milton died in 2005 from complications from a stroke.  He was 70.

 

Buddy Holly born in 1935.  Holly died in 1959 at age 22 in a plane crash that also took the lives of Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson aka "The Big Booper" as well as pilot Roger Peterson.

 

Benjamin Latimore, blues, funk, soul and R&B singer, turns 80.

 

Gloria Gaynor, disco and R&B singer, is 72.

 

Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders is 68.

 

Brazilian singer Morris Albert is 68.

 

Benmont Tench pianist/vocalist for The Heartbreakers, Stevie Nicks, Don Henley, et. al. turns 66 today.

 

Jermaine Stewart born in '57.  He died at 39 years of age in 1997 from liver cancer.
