Hi!

Apparently, my recruit is not a troll and in a matter of almost 6 days he managed to get to +350 points. He has 22 more days to get another 1150.

Doable? I definitely thinks so!

If he does that, with a bit of my help (IF WE FINALLY CATCH EACH OTHER ONLINE AT THE SAME TIME), I will have an option to choose a tier VIII premium tank.

Since I already have FV4202 and T92, I can choose from Panther 88, Jagdtiger 88 or AMX M4 49.

Premium tanks I already have:

German mediums: Pz. S35, Pz. 25, Turan III, Pz. IV Hydro., T55 A

German tank destroyers: Stug IV, Dicker Max, E25, Skorpion G

French heavies: FCM 50t

Note: I already have all tier X tanks in game and all my crews are at least 4 perks (4.8 on average).

Now, from tanks I already have, AMX would make the most obvious pick. It's the best option out of the three and I would have a decent French tier VIII heavy without a pref mm.

I also had it for a rental some time ago and it seemed like a fun tank.

I'm not really interested in how bad are the 88's, but in can you make them work, can you have fun with them?

Are there experienced players who enjoy those two tanks? Is there anyone who has all three of them and can point me in some direction; like, which one is the most dynamic, the most satisfying to play?

I really need help with choosing a tank, in case I am able to pick one. Thanks!

M4 49 is the best of the lot.  P88 is very bad, jt88 is somewhere in the middle thanks to pref MM.

The Jag 8.8 has a Great Rof,  Put a 3 skilled crew or more into the td, and the ROf is less the 4 secs, It has preferential MM, You can also put optics on it hand if you have all the vision skills  the view range is well above 445,  It is Large and Slow you need to hid the lower plate, If you use it the way it was meant to be used, Sniper, It can be a beast. The French Heavy is a Good Tank also, The Front is very well armored, the sides and rear aren't, The only thing that lets it down is the Large Commanders Coppola. The Panther 8.8 , I hear it's the worst tier 8 med. I am not sire if that is true but I do know There are at least 15 other premium meds in the game that are better. I would take the Jag 8.8 its Rare and it prints credits, The rounds cost 252 per shell, and the pen is 212, for AP, The APCR is only 237. That is probably the worst part about the Td, But it only will ever see Tier 9 unless you toon with someone who is in a reg. Tier 8 . The Amx m4, Has an easily damaged ammo rack, Exposed Turret ring, ver bad dpm, and the Ground resistances are Awful. The jag 8.8 can get its DPm up to 3,550 without Food, with 3,800, Aim time and acc are also awesome. I run Rammer Optics and vents. on the JagTiger8.8

You should pick the Tank that you need for grinding crews.

IMHO

Jag 8.8 > Amx M4 49 > Panther 8.8

Pick either the Jag or the Amx, depending on preferred playstyle.

The Panther 88 is terrible.

The AMX M4 is easily the best out of the lot, anyone saying otherwise is lying to you and is not to be taken seriously.

I luv the Jag 88. Bought the Panther because of Frontline for a medium trainer. Its not a good tank but has a radioman. Would never play it in a game that counted. However now with Crew Skill Books, you don't need a premium trainer for each nation/type of tank just one (3 really for FL) that makes good credits and you enjoy. You have over 50k games played and great crews and tier 10s so doubt anyone is telling you anything new. Have fun with new tank. :)

I am different and quite enjoy playing my PZ 88 on Frontlines, when I played it.  I think it's decent enough and earns enough credits to be given serious consideration.  But what do I know, I'm considered a bad player and our opinions do not count for anything.

pick the style of whatever you like to play.

crew trainers really aren't that needed with crew books these days, as well as the number of lady crews made available.

Panther 88 is basically an American medium tank with a larger hull.

Can't lead a push, but still has better pen+DPM compared to some mediums.

Not like many tier 8 mediums rely on their armor anyway.

The only gripes I have with the tank are the top speed (should be 50-55) and the aim time (2.4 base is just a big oof, should be 2.1)

Jagdtiger 88 has been hit hard by powercreep; you can't often use its DPM due to the low pen, and the armor will only hold up against tiers 6-7s.

The hull traverse buff helped, but it's still slow to move.

The Skorpion exists, which will just go straight through your superstructure; and the Defender, which has only tiny weakspots for you to hit.

I don't have the M4 49, so I can't comment on it.

I have a 61% winrate over 300 games in the Panther 88. These people who say it's bad just lack the skills to make the kitty purr.

Okay that was a lie. Big one.

I got the M4 49, I'm not too good with it, but the gun is ok and armor is nice enough for damage blocking missions, so it's worth it on its own.

JT has a really nasty rate of fire and pref MM, sometimes I think I should have picked that one instead.

Just stay away of the Panther, it's regarded as one of the worst T8 mediums.

If you play it very carefully you can do okay in the Panther 88, but its underpowered and I can't honestly call it fun to play. JT 88 is situational, but the armour is good when top tier plus the rate of fire is pleasant, so that TD is usually fun to drive. Have not played the AMX M4 49 yet but from what I've heard I'd say its the best choice of the three.

The Jadgtiger 8.8cm is very much at the mercy of the matchmaker. I can say it makes the most credits in certain matches out of my current tank selection (M46 Patton Tiger, Defender, Black Bulldog, RAAC Centurion, and T34 Black). But when you face tier IX superheavies good luck. Hell even tier VIII superheavies will give you trouble even with APCR. The Jadgtiger 8.8cm premium is very situational and to be honest I don't really run it any more since the RAAC Centurion can do its job but better.

AMX for sure. The JT, like most slow casement TD's, is very situational and not very flexible, most people will say the Panther 8.8 is garbage but the little I've played it I don't mind it so much but it's more of a sniper than an up front med.

Well, I didn't expect that many replies to the topic... Thanks all!

Very solid arguments, details and experience provided.

I guess my choice is pretty clear. But, just to be sure, I will go on Common Test and see if I'm going to enjoy JT or AMX more (if mm gives me a chance).

It's most likely that I will pick the AMX, which was my initial choice, but I'm glad you guys gave me the info you needed, +1 for all of you :D

Thanks!

For context: I personally don't have any of those tanks but have played them all on others accounts.

I would definitely pick the FV4202. It's a classic all-rounder medium. Good turret, gun depression, great gun, decent mobility. Just my kind of playstyle, but if you prefer heavies over mediums then probably go for the AMX. The rest are just bad.

Okay that was a lie. Big one.

I have a 58% winrate in the Panther 8.8 over 150 games, and that is no lie.

However, that was in a different age and a different population.
