Mel Brooks claims political correctness is a stranglehold on comedians.  "Blazing Saddles’ Would Never Be Made in Today’s ‘Stupidly Politically Correct Culture" per Mel.  The man is funny and right.

Sorry, gotta call BS on that one. True I'm no fan of PC but you can still do and say what you want, you just have to be able to take the heat that comes with it. "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges"

Freedom of speech does not come with freedom from consequences; just freedom from government persecution.

Just the suppression of free speech on college campuses shows Mel is right.  This obstruction has most prominently expressed itself through a stinky mix of speech codes in many places. PC is the new McCarthyism  on college campuses and with search engines and in social media.  Here the emphasis is on content repression instead of transparency. Freedom of speech is at risk due to PC. It is pervasive and wrong.

In regards to comedy, it's either all on the table or nothing is on the table. Mel Brooks is great.  PC, not so much.

Hell I got chat banned once for quoting Blazing Saddles.

No way in hell today could that movie be made without triggering way too many folks that wouldn't get it.

Many of the scenes would get an RO if posted.

One only has to look into the rotten tomatoes score dichotomy over Dave Chappell’s latest Netflix special to understand what’s facing comedy these days...

Just listen to XM radio comedy channels and you will listen to things that would be raged against in a second - yes comedy is facing a dilemma now since things that were touchable are no longer touchable because - offensive to someone somewhere on plant earth.

Having a sense of humor is a terrible thing to waste.
