"Quasi-tank that has less armor than snowblower but has enough ammo to take out half of DC".

I'd love it. Ultimate devascout.

After watching that, I imagine that is what a WoT Dev meeting is like. I have been playing this game for too long and I can not think of one good thing WoT has done for the game.

Those apc's were death traps in nam. They didn't have the turret though.

And this is how the Sherman came to be. The brits even offered them their better gun but they didn't want a brit gun on it. Sigh. The brits put their gun on thiers though, other wise known as the tiger killer. FIREFLY. I feel bad for all those men that died because of this.

You know the primary role of tanks is to support infantry where HE is more important in that role.

Yep. This is a bit hollywood but it shows what the sherman was designed to do though they seldom fought without infantry like in this clip.

Fighting other tanks was relegated to tank destroyers when possible and the sherman was first and foremost an infantry support tank at which it excelled.

Drove the M113 and the variants M901 and M981.   The M113 was fun as heck to drive but a bit scary when you went across a lake or river in it, they could "swim" across but being in one in deep water didn't feel right.

https://en.wikipedia...iki/M981_FISTV

The FISTV was for carrying the forward observers into battle so they could direct artillery and had a Ground/Vehicular Laser Locator Designator on it to direct precision fire weapons onto target but designed to look like the ITV which was lower priority target for the Russians.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M901_ITV

The ITV carried TOW missiles to engage the enemy tanks and usually accompanied mechanized infantry or armored companies as a support vehicle.

The M113 was classified as an "Armored Personnel Carrier", we called them Already Prepared Coffins because of the aluminum armor that a .50 cal BMG could penetrate easily and if a tank were to shoot it it was done along with the crew.

Then the Bradley came along they did away with a lot of the M113 series vehicles.

But your right I guess that is the type of meetings the DEVS have when they are putting the newest tanks in the game.

M106 mortar carriers with the 4.2" were pretty cool.  M577 for the FDC section.  Got a lot of service out of that line.

Great thing about the 577 is the head room.  Had one for the BDE FSE and used to string up a hammock in it for sleeping.
