For the first time, Microsoft Defender blocked the WoT client from using all of its features.  This after the latest update.

Should I be concerned?  I am not and enabled full access.

Interesting my firewall blocked it after the update and it was already permitted.

I had updated Windows yesterday and WOT today. That came up as I launched the game. I just unblocked it as usual.

go into settings on WOT game clinet and add it to the firewall for it not to block or add to the defender not to block

Since the last major Windows 10 update, I almost always have to re-allow all WG titles through the firewall as yes, they are now being blocked.  It also happens to the other two major tank games too so, it's not like it's just WG, it isn't.

Same here even after adding the game and launcher in the support tab in the launcher is there something we need to know?

Defender maintains a hash value for any executable, like WorldOfTanks.exe, that functions as a server on your PC and accepts incoming connections that are not in response to an outgoing request. If a program has been allowed to accept requests through the firewall and that .exe file changes in any way it won't match the stored hash.

Defender will then block access for the changed .exe file (even though it has the same name), since it may have had additional malicious code added to it without your knowledge. So when it blocks WoT access after an update, and asks you about it, it's just doing exactly what it's supposed to do.

Minor weekly patches such as 1.6.0.1, 1.6.0.2, etc, just make changes to the client, HD, and SD content that the server loads to start the game, thus no alert from Defender. More significant updates such as 1.6.0 to 1.6.1 (the ones that usually take 4~6 hours of down time) make changes to the WorldOfTanks.exe file which starts the server and the whole process of synchronizing/loading the game. Those updates will trigger Defender because the .exe that starts the server has changed.

Yeah, had that as well.  I gave MD a kick in the privates and told it to let WoT go out and play with the other tanks. :sceptic:
