ID.me does have a verification option for family members, my wife's in. Once the family member has an account, come back to WG, and do the same association mechanism (eg Account management, right side) as the servicemember. Then log into the game.

I use the VA website as well and have never seen them mentioned until I started digging for information on them.. I went ahead and signed up for it even though I doubt I will ever need them. I found their vetting process lacking. No one wanted my ID, no one wanted my DD214, no one asked me my discharge status or reenlistment code ..... I suppose even if you have a dishonorable discharge you are eligible to get ID.me verification. So yeah, not impressed one bit. Anyways just be aware that just because someone has an ID.me verification, does not mean they are necessarily the kind of vets you would hang out with on purpose.....
There's a reason we said "honorably served" in the announcement. The ID.me system is capable of distinguishing dishonorable from other forms of service, and the attempt will be rejected. I don't know if you'll ever need them, but if you have a look at https://shop.id.me/offers?groups%5B%5D=military you'll see a good argument for using them anyway. I've saved a few thousand dollars through this system, and the other related companies.

I'm sorry, I don't have USAA and I'm not giving out my SSN. Seems rich for identity theft to me.
QMC(SS)
USN (Ret).
You give your SSN out to plenty of other private companies, I'm sure. How many of those other companies do the US Government use for verification? It's up to you, but for general purposes, it qualifies as 'safe enough'.
