Cheers, Chief,

Don't take it too hard...  some of these fellas sound like they been stop-loss'd.  I'd be willing to bet, there is a silent majority that 1) appreciate what WG is doing. 2) Can think critically (i know, right?! ... soldiers that think for themselves have been a thing for a long while now...), and if they are reading about the 'offer', also know how to vet the ID.me through a little more reading on their site.

Yeah, I go there all the time and I didn't notice that IDme was the the third option down.

Realisticly though:

why would you notice?  If you been going there for a while, and you see changes often enough ( i see regular changes ), you'd likely have no reason to pause to evaluate the page critically beyond making sure the login info looks right, then hit go...
I had not noticed the ID.me there either, for what it's worth.  But I have been using the VA \ DOD \ ID.me bedding for years... and did not notice it on the VA Login Screen till today...

I'm off to play with the Albany!

before this get's locked, i'd like to know the backstory:

Well, by everything I see my account and military service has been linked and verified by ID.me, it even says its verified for world of tanks specifically.

how do I go past this point and receive the tank/other benefits?

So is this only for PC or for XBOX/PS4 as well?

I verified my ID with my DD214 but still no Thunderbolt. What gives?

Never mind, I must be going blind. Found it and thank you for the tank.

I had previously used ID.me and when I try to verify my status it says I can't do what WOT tells me to do because I have an account already. I sent ID.me a summary of my problem yesterday but so far no help. I appreciate WOT's gesture but wish the process was less convoluted. I sent ID.me pictures of my DD214 and of my VA ID card. Waiting...

This was a pleasant surprise. T6 Thunderbolt's a legit gift. WOWS handed out a T2. It was free and I'm not ungrateful, but WOT's gift felt more meaningful.

Well, if you think about it, it has to be a little convoluted or just about anyone could get the gift. If you weren't in ID.me before, you are now, and it'll be easier in the future. I've been in a long time as employers etc., don't automatically take a person's word for it when they say they're a vet. And rightfully so. Stolen valor is a thing.

Please, please have a security review and policy of this project done by the VA or other official vet organizations.  A post of recommended guidelines and risks should be provided when such information about members is made public.

Identifying members of the military can have really bad security, let alone privacy implications.

If you read the bottom it says "You can remove this access at any time by changing your ID.me account settings." Simply put you remove all access wargaming can get to the info you posted.

Perhaps convoluted was the wrong word. WOT refers me to ID.me and ID.me doesn't tell me anything. It gets frustrating. But again, thanks for doing this WOT. I for one will never complain about you because you allow me to play for free. What a deal. I just want the tank!

This is awesome, thank you guys for doing this! Didn't expect it at all and it was a really pleasant surprise. Happy it was through ID.me, made this super easy.

Does this, or will it, apply to WoT Blitz?

ID.me uses it's own login - you have to make a new account with them. Follow the prompts through the wargaming page about the salute to make it easier.
