Thank you very much wargaming. It does mean a lot when companies recognize service members

OlTanker -- Just follow the site and the tank will be in the garage

My question is the Thunderbolt for Family members. I have just gotten my wife into playing and would love to get that for her.

I read this post and I have the same question. How do family members receive the free things (minus the coupon) as well? My father served in the military years before I was even thought of lol, but he has played this game for a while and already claimed his rewards (and loves it). So, long story short, how can I get the reward as it says at the bottom of the benefit page?: https://worldoftanks.com/en/content/world-of-tanks-salute/

I looked around here on the forums and in the website but all i found was this comment, so hopefully we can figure this out seeing as I am not the only one asking.

While the sentiment will be well received, identifying yourself as current or previous member of the military to a game that comes from Russia and subject to anything that the developers are told to do by organizations that are not in the private sector, probably isn't a good idea at any level.

If I was a member of Putins government, I'd be slobbering all over myself to be able to use this vector to identify foreign military members for data mining, and at the prospect of having the ability to compromise development code being ran on computers owned by those people.

WoT is fun and I support the fun, but anything other than being a user acccount is pretty dumb.

WG doesn't get access to the information submitted to ID.me. WG is partnering with this website which verifies Service to give access to Discounts

The only information shared to WG is Yes or No this person is a Veteran.

If you are family member of a Veteran, you should be able to use the USAA verification option.

It should happen as soon as you login.

You will know you are verified if you check the account management page and see a date under the ID.me icon in the column on the right.

My account management shows i'm verified but I dont' have a new tank, coupon, or camo in my garage.  I thought once you were verified it was automatic.

Log out then log back in.

Make sure you don't have mods enabled, by launching the game in safe mode.

Thank you very much for your service, at this time it is US only, but could be expanded upon in the future.

I've got the same question.. How do Family members of veterans apply? I can't find any info about it anywhere..

I wasn't in the military, but my brother was a Marine. Do I have to ask him to make an id.me account and then link his account to my game?

How do family members get the benefits (other than coupons)?

Well this is good for U.S. vets, and current service types. Just not available for Canadians it seems.

Console are not partaking in this. This has been a WoT PC NA push. (It  started as a Chieftain push, but the rest of the NA PC office got aboard and put the whole thing together). We'll see if the other projects follow our lead.

Guys,  if you're a vet, there's obviously no obligation for you to sign up.  If you're that paranoid about how your IP address can be linked to once having been in the military, we certainly aren't going to force you. Forced thanks are not particularly polite.

As for the rest, there are three major service-verification third parties out there in the US. Used by anyone from Home Depot to United Airlines to Sirius XM Radio. ID.me is one of these three, they're based out of Virginia. I've been using them for years, and no OPSEC briefing has said that they are a risk. Personal choice, but me, I'm happy enough giving my last four in order to get USAA insurance rates, 50% off rifle optics, 10% off airplane tickets and all the rest.... and now we get  to add bennies from Wargaming.

Non-USians. We obviously are going to have enough kinks in this to work out over the next while with just the US servicemen. We started there as the largest block, and because there is already an extremely well-established system for service verification online. We know the Canadians have the CF-One system, which seems to provide a reasonably simple verification possibility, but investigations with other countries South of the US border seem not to have an easy equivalent. We do hope to expand, but let's sort out the immediate problems first (Such as the veterans' forum access, which probably will be a week before people actually start seeing it), and we can worry about expansion later.

As I said earlier in the thread. WG doesn't get to see any of your private information from ID.me

TLDR: This isn't a trap. This website is Legitimate. WG is partnering with ID.me and doesn't see any SS numbers.

It doesn't matter WHO you're asking us to share our SSN with, the fact is you're offering a deal for Vets ONLY if we share sensitive personal information with a company most of us have never heard of ... with no link from any DoD site recommending it.  Post a link to IDme from a DoD site that endorses IDme and says it's safe.

(yeah, I checked with a few vet friends just too make sure I wasn't a complete knuckle-dragging dinosaur and their responses were all the same: IDwhat? probably phishing).

yeah, I'm skeptical of any site that offers discounts for Vets IF they provide their SSN.  Every safety briefing I sat through I always wondered "Who was dumb enough to do that?".

Now the number one thing you hear about is people who provide their sensitive information because "Someone else said it was okay".  The rule is DO NOT PROVIDE YOUR SSN to people or websites you don't know... and you're here being a pied piper sending vets to this site.

Show a link to that site from a legit DoD site that endorses IDme.

EDIT:

Here's a link to the VA https://www.va.gov/

Click Login

3rd option down is IDme, so they are actually an accredited login for the VA, i.e. they're legit and safe to use... not that WG bothered to post anything about that in their description or link to IDme

Don't feel bad if you missed it, I'm a disabled Vet and regularly access the VA page via the other log-in options and never noticed IDme

If you are a member of USAA you can verify through them. That is how I ID my account.

That way you only use the last 4 of social.

C'mon Chieftan, if you had a troop at next drill weekend tell you all about this great deal he heard about if he provided his SSN to some web-site he'd never heard of... you'd tell him "Sounds legit, do it"?

We're not talking about an IP address, SSN is what you're asking us to give out to a site we don't know.  I just got a Home Depot discount today by showing my ID... no SSN required.

It's not forced to say I appreciate the intent, I've made sincere requests here to give Vets the bonus without asking us to give up SSN or personal info associated with an account.  The responses from WG have been the equivalent to "Get in the van, they have free candy."

Your customers are saying genuine "Thanks for the offer, can I have it without making myself vulnerable to identity theft?" and the answer we get back is "No, no gift without providing privacy act info".  Most Vets I know are hyper-sensitive to protecting that information, and I'm surprised to hear WG vets treating this in what comes across as a fairly casual manner.
