Curious as to how to win / have a better chance of winning in this mode when you spawn at the South.

I've noticed a few things: South spawn has a hard time taking hill (not fast enough)

Going to the 'corner' gets you shot in the back from the hill

Going into the town gets you shot from TDs and the hill

So what's the winning move?

* Please don't let this be / become a 'Just Don't Play Encounter' thread *  (Thanks)

Go for the cap straight away.

That's problem #2: getting shot from both the TDs and the hill

First goal is to limit their advance up the hill, got to secure the entrance. You may not be able to climb but you can put shots up their [edited]as they attempt to. Second careful with timing and make your way onto the hill. Drive them off the hill to victory.

If you can't maintain the entrance fall back around the hill and try to proxy them.

Start off by brawling in the middle, then either push onto the hill if possible, or rotate to 7-8-9 for potential cap pressure.

The best I've been able to figure out is to secure and early position to blap them in the side as the enter the hill,  then either try to hold the entrance and eventually retake the hill, or fall back and proxi spot those on the hill for arty and TDs.  But in either case, the goal is to conserve HP and hope the reds make a mistake.  If they do, take advantage of their mistake, if they don't, at least you have a few HP left to do some end battle farming.  *shrug*

The best I can offer is to premeditate the North's hill push. Fast Mediums/Lights shouldn't dive into the entrance, but poach the rocks on the South side, and shoot the enemy in the sides as they rush past.

Fast Heavies should load the first shell as HE and do similar; wait on the slope for the North's rush and just peg the side of some unfortunate Light or Medium for a 1/4 of their health.

After that, just sit at the base of the cliffs and proxy spot any survivors trying to get vision on your TD's...

Not to derail, but imo every map with an encounter mode is better in encounter than in standard except Mines.
