the title says it all: which non-premium heavy is well suited for the cap/decap bullying - that has good armor? My Emil I is not really suited for it. I was thinking of the IS3? Any other suggestions?

Defender will be most people's main choice

I could throw out a mild nod to the KV-4.  Sadly it's a little power-crept these days but it still pulls off a fair few bounces.  The gun is pretty accurate as Russian heavies go and the DPM is pretty good.  One of the big drawbacks is that it's dog slow, so it absolutely will not keep up with the pace of the battle, generally speaking.

There aren't really a whole lot of a good tech-tree options IMO.  Sad but true.

EDIT: I'd say that I'd probably prefer the IS-3 because it's a little more flexible.

Aggressively reset heavy nonpremium?

T-32 nope its hull down

Emil I great at hitting things fast but soft

50-100 Ditto great at dealing damage better at absorbing it

t65 Lol in my stock experience it doesn't do enough damage and  is slow (Stock)

IS-3 best  candidate so far

KV-4 Though it is pretty bouncy in a brawl for the uninitiated, I think its a better sniper than brawler but way too slow

Vk100.01 Pretty decent but needs teammates keeping its flank and back sides clear (Won't happen)

Tiger II Meh at best just doesn't have a brawling personality the way it's set up in WoT. I haven't seen many in FL

VK 45.02 I haven't played this tank in years don't remember much about it nor do I see enough of them in FL

Chinese 110 might be able to do decent but softer than the IS3 in my experience.

Caernarvon not bad fire rate can definitely reset  but I have not played it in FL ever

O-ho slow derpomatic or good sniping gun too slow for resetting it will not last long against high damage tanks though it can bounce shots

53tp can handle it but why bother

Personally, I suggest the Itlaian Progetto medium Italian tank. it seems to be the current meta in FL it can reset the fl and snipe and do fast in out resets.

Boy, this made me have to think about it.

I don't believe I have played a tech tree heavy in FL.

Mostly played the Polish premium heavy and the Defender.

Well, if you want to assume you can somehow teleport inside the cap without getting destroyed going there, the VK100 + KV-4 + O-HO are decent enough.  The problem is that if you're in these tanks you usually get destroyed on your way to the actual cap.

IS-3 is mobile enough to get to the cap and has just enough armor to sometimes bounce shots.

Well - Tech tree only. Not Prem. The Caernarvon has the best stats - best armor, best DPM. I would say it is the best for stopping cap. The IS3 has better functional armor. Side turret, side hull, and the sloping make it a beast to kill when on cap, so i would pick IS3 for capping.

The Polish 53TP is worth a try, might surprise .

all premiums - I was specifically looking for non-prems as I dont want to pay real money for WoT. Yes, I saw in FL what a tough nuth especially the defender is when the player knows where to position himself...

Since premiums are out.... I'd say give the tech-tree Caernarvon a shot.

I've never played it but it still has the good gun depression and tough turret that make the Caern AX popular in Frontline. I wouldn't try it unless fully upgraded.... wouldn't want to be using the 17 pdr. Hopefully the 32 pdr. is more accurate in the Caern than the Churchill GC....

I play my AX in Frontline a lot... plenty of zones have good spots near the caps where you can go hull down keep up a blistering ROF into the enemy tanks in the cap circle.... while bouncing just about everything they throw your way. The AX is also accurate enough to keep engaging targets at range while you chug forward to advance.... YMMW in the tech tree version.

I don't play may Russian premium heavies much in FL, they feel too slow... especially the IS-3a. If the tech-tree IS-3 is less sluggish.... its probably not a bad choice for a good all round heavy. The armor is certainly good enough to troll the lights and mediums sniping....

I see a fair number of KV-4s and Vk. 100.01s, but wouldn't want to try to get across the map in one. The Vk can be tough if the driver knows what they are doing.... but I see a lot of them trying to cover a full 180 degree arc... so I simply wait until they turn that giant turret sideways and then hammer them....

IS-3 and Caernarvon would be my best bets. Although based on your stats I'd guess you would do better with IS-3. Caernarvon is less forgiving and you should really know what you are doing to do well with it. No offense.
