There are always a lot of complaints on the forum regarding RNG so I thought that I should have a look at the data I have accumulated to see if anything showed up that might trigger alarm bells, but as you can see from the tables below, there is no sign of anything untoward and the figures are pretty much inline with what could be expected for each category tested.

So, have I wasted my time?...... I don't thinks so - these figures can be used as a benchmark and next time you feel that RNG is being unfair to you, check your own figures against these averages.

Of course, these figures don't mean that RNG is not being used to affect the outcome of battle, just that it is not targeting any specific group enough to skew the stats.

Table 1: Hit & Bounce by Skill Level.

Colour # Shots % Hit % Pierced % Bounce
Purple 2474 77% 79% 21%
Blue 24050 76% 77% 23%
Green 162338 74% 75% 25%
Yellow 374555 71% 71% 29%
Orange 368327 67% 66% 34%
Red 76476 56% 59% 41%
Grand Total 1008220 69% 70% 30%

Table 2: Hit & Bounce by Tier

Tier # Shots % Hit % Pierced % Bounce
1 2000 37% 73% 27%
2 20105 47% 59% 41%
3 16162 46% 58% 42%
4 16375 51% 66% 34%
5 34418 57% 69% 31%
6 99340 62% 72% 28%
7 157593 66% 69% 31%
8 383311 70% 69% 31%
9 201034 74% 69% 31%
10 91873 77% 72% 28%
Grand Total 1022211 69% 70% 30%

Table 3: Hit 7 Bounce by Battle Result

Result # Shots % Hit % Pierced % Bounce
Defeat 442753 67% 66% 34%
Draw 14038 67% 69% 31%
Victory 566016 69% 72% 28%
Grand Total 1022807 69% 70% 30%

30% bounce is way to high.

How did you eliminate HE rounds from the data?  If you didn't, did non HE pen's count as a bounce?

I meant to mention this....

I eliminated all "Explosive Hits". In other words, if a tank or SPG has created splash damage, the data for that tank is ignored even though there might be some AP hits. It is possible that the data might include HE shells provided that they ALL pen without splash..

Thank you for adding to the world of information that helps to confirm that WG's statements about RNG being randomly generated at the time of each individual shot, and never being changed or manipulated for any gun, tank, player, team, battle, or mode... are very probably true (since there is ZERO hard evidence to the contrary).

Don't really see how RNG even comes into play here. The only way you could say that is if each shot was effected by it. If you're shooting 300mm of armor with 175mm of pen you're not going to pen, regardless of RNG. If you're shooting 175mm or armour with 175mm of pen then it does come into effect. Then there are autobounce angles, which again are not effected by RNG.

You are right, there is no way to distinguish between RNG and poor shooting, but it does provide a benchmark against which to measure your personal stats.

So basically better players tend to aim shots better and shoot more gold when they need to...

...well I'll be a son of a gun..

Jokes aside, I'm surprised the blue and purple categories have such a high hit %. Personally I take a LOT of blind shots that bring my hit % down.

A relatively small sample - probably scored all their hits on me! :)

Whilst I removed myself from these stats, hits on me by other players is still reflected.
