HE nerf, effect wheelie tanks gameplay.

WG isn't considering the fact that HE nerf has given wheelies tanks a massive buff.  You have officially ruined the gameplay to counter scouts. Now slow tanks like Fv4005, Tortoise, etc will have an impossible time to kill any wheeled vehicles driving in to circle that tanks. GJ WG.

I highly doubt this sandbox change will go through.

HE does more module damage and can knock out multiple wheels. AP doesn't.

All the wheels can be repaired with one kit, why would you waste rolling the dice on HE rounds?

Ty for again confirming why you're a subpar player.

Shooting HE at wheelies is bad

You're forgetting these HE changes are more a nerf to wheelies than a buff.

Doesn't hitting the middle two wheels on a side-on wheelie negate all AP damage, where at least an HE round would splash damage around the wheels to the hull?

Depends on what the game determines. If the game thinks the best fragment is doing full damage to multiple wheels, it'll choose that over actually doing damage to the hull because, if I'm not mistaken, the suspension is considered an 'internal' module.

If thats all youre wanting form HE... then its still gonna do that... from the article about the rework:

Block Quote

For the reworked HE rounds, the chance of tracking or damaging an external module is higher.

I still wouldnt be wasting time trying to slow them down with HE... just blap them with AP and kill them quicker.

HE would be the last thing I would shoot at a wheelie.

That's what i thought about the ridiculous ammo rebalance (Raise HP of all tanks and the alpha of standard rounds) and it's still being tested...

I thought HE was the best ammo against wheelies.  The chance of pen was high, inflicting full damage, and all hits had samage chances.

AP, OTOH, could bounce and would have lower damage after pen than the same caliber HE that pens.

Why is AP better?

After how many times I've seen Jg and 183 bouncing AP off of the wheelies or at the least the wheels eating the shots, I hope you're joking.

At least if HE hits it can knock out multiple wheels and damage crew.

Pretty sure this is the OP's point. If the changes go through, there is no chance to ever pen with HE. In the current state, the wheels seem to count as some kind of super-spaced armor. HE and HEAT will detonate on them and then it's up to RNG to see what kind of damage you inflict. AP and APCR should be able to pen and do damage more consistently--but then life happens and you get a magical ricochet. With the new changes, HE (especially low caliber) will be far less effective against the little buggers.
