I've eaten a lot of different MREs, and when i was younger, C-rations. None of them are "good," some are truly awful, most of them are just palatable enough to eat.

I've quite enjoyed most MRE's I've eaten over the years, but then again, I enjoy garlic ice cream and raw cloves of garlic, so the hell do I Know about taste.

MREs are amazing, but then again out of the 30+ I've eaten,  I've only gotten 2 of the veggitarian options ever

(Ate 1, other one is in my room, the main dish is sitting there, never to be eaten, but I'm feasting on the crackers)

The best one is the buffalo chicken (meal 21 I think)

The general consensus i've heard is that the best meal is Chili and Macaroni (menu 10)

the oldest one he has video of is 1899 and he actually tastes it, he has also found ones from wwII that have actually held up well and ones from 2015 that did not hold up well.

have not watched them all but i see a trend of chocolate in MREs.  there is a german one from 1942 that i think there is something a little extra in the chocolate because he gets very wired after eating it

Maybe the chef added Pervitin to it.

Thanks but no thanks I have had enough MRE's to last me.  The worst were the ones with the dehydrated meat substance in them, they called them pork or beef but only the manufacturer actually knew then contents.

He's lucky he survived the 1899 ration. During the Spanish-American war twice as many U.S. soldiers died from tainted rations than died in battle.

I can count on one hand how many times we had a chance to eat them hot.  That pork patty scouring pad was the worst.  Nothing could reconstitute it.
