Do you have to hit X to go into siege mode on the udes 14 5?

No, but the siege mode on those tanks is pretty awful. The UDES 14 5 is a great tank otherwise though.

No, it goes into siege mode automatically when it slows down. You can see the change of icon when it slows down or stops.

I wouldn't rely on it though. The siege mode takes a while to activate, and by the time it does you will get shot or the enemy will have backed down. Generally, if you're able to train the gun on someone using the extra gun depression, you'll get lit cresting the hill. Unlike the other UDES mediums, the 14 5 has overmatchable armor, which means it cannot take hits.

That being said, I think it's one of the best tier 8 mediums. You just can't play it like a ridgeline fighter.

My favourite Tier 8.  It is best played as a sneaky mid-range turreted TD.  Use hills and cover and move often and you will do well.   Brawl and die.

IMO, the siege mode on the 14 5 just lets it work positions other tanks with guns as good as it has can't work.  I think of it kinda like a strv 74.  Ridgelines and hull down are for minimizing your profile and attacking from unexpected angles, not for bouncing shots.

Thanks for confirmations! I have tried this tank as a ridgeline fighter and got dismal WR. I watched other players' plays and changed the playstyle as more like an active sniper. It works a lot better.

It is a great tank, but the Siege mode can be slow to engage sometimes, letting you down when you need gun depression a little faster.  Otherwise it is a great tank, one of my favorites to play

great tank??

clearly, one persons trash, is another persons treasure.

indefatigably my most unpleasant experience with a tank, the UDES 14/5.
