Is it just me, but isn't $18 per 3D style a bit much?

I was expecting something along the lines of $10 per tank, and a discount if you buy all three.

If players are foolish enough to spend that kind of money on the game, the demand will fuel the price.

You know the saying:

A Fool and His Money Are Soon Parted

I still can't see spending $40/month on a cellphone plan.

But not just WG; the gaming industry as a whole preys on players being foolish with their money. And I'll add the cellphone industry also.

The styles are only good for certain tanks. Just make a good spooky 2d style to apply to any tank.

WG didn't get these reviews for nothing:

I'd spend a buck for a style.

I find the style pricing absurd... it's about three times what I'd be willing to pay, especially on a style for a tank I'm unlikely to drive anyway...

As you have said I would be more inclined to part with my money if the styles could be applied to any tank.

But these as is are a definite pass for me, at any price.

When they do the 3d styles Im sure they have to fit to a particular wire frame mesh/polygon geometry so each style is generated individually. And it takes time and resources to generate these styles; why waste the resources to do so given the limited market for these styles when a nice universal 2D style would have been a nice compromise IMO.

My thinking now turns to possibly someone in the WG ranks with clout that plays these tanks got their way like the balancing developer that was demoted (he favored his tanks). What else can I think ?

The limited application and specific development of these styles drove up the cost where only the most naive players or whales will buy them.

Hard to disagree.

Some of these 2D styles are pretty cool and I would not mind buying some if available. They should add them to the bond shop.

Most probably these are from the cancelled Halloween mode.

Maybe they were prizes from the mode, or maybe they tied to the story arch somehow. Who knows, these might have been the villains of the mode.

I think part of the draw - from their point of view - was that the style was created by an artist from Silent Hill...or One Tree Hill...something Hill.

I dunno.  I like the idea just not at that price point.

I  wouldn't pay that price even if Edgar Allen Poe or Vincent Price designed them.

I think WG is trying to go Epic on us.  My kid really really wants whatever new skins they have in Fork Knife, even though they don't do anything, but kids get shamed if they don't get new skins.

Maybe WG could revise name and shame policy, to allow calling out "Defaults" that can't afford....Almost forgot, this game is about skill not looks of your tank.

I was curious to read some of the reviews, but after reading just a few, I'm not sure that even real people post there since half of the things are plain wrong. here is an example posted on Oct. 29th:

" First, I've played around 52,000 WOT games and have a fairly decent player rating..... It is not unusual to lose 10 or even 20 straight games, but very rare to win more than 3 in a row unless you are one of the game's favored/highly rated players..... the developers give highly skilled players unfair advantages by issuing special "equipment" that is far better than the "equipment" available to casual players. (for example: "sixth sense" equipment gives players warning 5 seconds after they have been spotted, allowing them to move before being shot. Highly rated players can obtain the same equipment, however the warning is 2 seconds faster, meaning average players will never be able to compete with highly skilled players.....in other words because of RNG your shot will very often miss the target if your target is a highly rated player, no matter how well focused on that target you are..... Despite Wargaming's likely denials, elite/highly rated players definitely DO enjoy unfair advantages.... A better/similar game (ie: more fair to casual players) would be War Thunder'

What a load of crap. Half of the post are literally made by bots to promote other titles or to slander WG. Read this above, if you played WoT ever, it is clear theya re just making things up. The terminology is wrong, the game knowledge is bad.

I used to read review for everything (trip, hotel, games, etc), but it's mostly fake these days. Companies pay for good reviews, and their competitors pay for bad reviews, so none of it can be trusted in my opinion.

p.s.

funniest review was on Sep. 24th:

"So I’m having trouble because wargaming.net are taking my money and it’s not fair on me and others. So please stop taking my money wargaming.net."

That is actually the whole review... hahahahhahah

Who knows any more ? The player base on NA is in such steep decline I doubt anything they do at this point can turn it around.  I hope I'm wrong but by this time next year we'll be under 10,000 people nightly on NA.

No matter how rich you are, please do not buy it.

WG needs to know, when they [edited] an event, everyone should get compensation, rather than paying them more money for [edited]
