I see there is the American Tier 2 and 3 premium light tanks for sale on the website. Are their any American tier 4 premium light tanks? It would be nice to have a tier four American light tank to use to not only learn to scout in but also to level up crew skills too. I feel held back trying to learn how to scout in the tier 2 and 3 tiers. Just my observation. I do not feel comfortable to buy a high tier light tank to learn how to scout. I do not have the confidence to do so yet. Still very green.

You're not 'really' scouting at tier 1-4.

Wait a while, get comfortable in the lower tiers, then get the T37.

You can decide from there how you feel about scouting.

There is are tier 2, 3, and 8 light tanks. Tier 3 is probably the best option if you ain't ready for the T92.

In fairness, it takes so few XP to get to Tier IV, you may as well just earn your way up to the M5.

lol the poor PZ-T 15

battle starts, "I've got 480m+ VR at tier III, now to find a bush and activate my camo and binocs and spot the entire team"

Team: goes zooming past, gets spotted and blown up.

lol the T-15 was one of the only tanks in the game that could sort of get away with fail-platooning. It was a real [edited]when it ran into a bush and then just sat there with binocs and camo.

T92 light tank was free if you created a "refer a friend account" and slaved it to your main.  It is a workable scout, but doesnt compare to the idiot proof russian alternative.  If you are into light tanks, pick one up.  Good camo, fantastic gunhandling with..fast but low damage.  TBH im not sure why a better premium american LT doesnt exist at tier 8 but T92 is good enough if you are using solid LT skills.

To OP, I struggled with light tanks at low tier for the longest time while learning the game.  The French Tier V AMX ELC bis was the eye opener for me in terms of learning viewing mechanics and camo.  I would recommend you get this tank and play it to learn these mechanics.  Once you've got that then you can look at tier VIII prems for crew training.  The other benefit to the AMX ELC-bis is it seems french wheelies are less prevalent in tier VI/VII games than they are in tier VIII/IX/X.

Your best options are:

  • grind up the soviet light tank tree. They're pretty much all great tanks, though they mostly suffer from crap gun depression. Tend to have good armor, good speed and good camo ratings, so they're great for scouting. Best overall light tank tree. I pretty much loved this entire line all the way up to tier 10.
  • grind up the french wheelie tree. I found these tanks easy to play, but I have thousands of games in light tanks so they might not be so great for a new player. Wheelies (and fast tanks in general) dominate in FL and I found the 6x6 to be a blast to play in that game mode. The ELC AMX was a hoot for me.
  • grind up the US light tank tree. These tanks are generally more flexible. You're playing this tree to get to the T49 (zoom around, hide in bushes and derp people for memes and hilarity), though the M41 is not bad (it was better with the autoloader), nor is the T71 (it was better when there was only one of these and it was an autoloader with 170+ pen standard rounds).
