there is. you can talk to yourself all session long.no one is stopping you.

of course i think you mean "why cant i talk to all other nonplatoomed players with my voice?"

let me think: a team of all solo players,gabbling/screeching/bellowing/pleading at the same time,at the top of their lungs...

NO THANKS!!!

The in-game voice chat quality is terrible. I mean, it's atrocious.

The last thing I want to hear while playing WOT is edgy teens with the soundboards playing SCOOOOOOOOOOOTLAAAAAAAAAAAAAND FOREEEEEEEEEEEVEEEEEEEEEEEER as loud as humanly possible.

In some games like Holdfast, Squad, Blackwake, (i.e. early access titles) I pretty much expect it and it enhances the experience. Games like CS:GO (where it's supposed to be used to cooperate) is mostly just filled with flaming, racism, bigotry, ect. I played CS:GO with chat muted for about a year, eventually gave up on it and sold my skins because it's just been a horrible game since it became FTP.

Other than that, no thanks. It's already bad enough that I have to deal with clannies spamming soundboards, the last thing I need is it in pubs as well.

figured you could mute everyone but the one guy who isn't like that then maybe actually meet decent players and get a platoon going

All chat is a fine way for me to turn it off right away.   Too many squeakers, irritated millenials,  angsty boomers, cranky and entitled retired or active military types, and arm chair generals for that to be a good idea.  It would turn the toxic to 11.

For the sea of crap, you'll find a very small handful of peeps who won't abuse and be competent enough to use it to cooperate

If this is your intent, you should try the World of Tanks NA Discord channel.

I think it may be exactly what you are looking for.

I've used it numerous times. I've found some very likable players there and even a few future clan mates.

Read the “general chat” in the garage for a while. Then imagine voices to the words of that general chat. Not in an orderly fashion, but overlapping and interrupting. That would be voice chat.

Sadly, too many immature people insulting each other.  Not that I care to hear people talking constantly while I'm trying to chill and play tanks anyway.

There is.  It's called Discord, that way you can solo play and talk to your friends.

Mechwarrior Online has open voice chat and, for whatever reason, it works well.  For WoT, can you imagine the amount of vitriol that would exist, if you could talk to everyone?  Honestly, the sheer amount of garbage, and I'm going to include myself in there too (sometimes), would be asinine.

It's bad enough trolls and self-anointed elites of the game know how to type (so do monkeys apparently), we surely do not want to find out that they do more than grunt and fling poo at everyone by putting them in chat.

I think it would be a fine addition to the game. If you are one of the people talking about all the annoying people, you could just turn it off. And let us trolls troll.

clearly you have not read the contents of the team chat or received any love notes from pubbie teammates.  I kid you not, in a battle that we won yesterday, I had a player who extended too far, did 0 damage, and died in the first minute, ask why I didn't overextend with him.  I did the top damage for the team with a couple of kills.  You can't make this stuff up.

While the notion of trolls trolling other trolls IS moderately amusing, i fear it would be most unsatisfying to trolls, perhaps like you, who would then come BACK to these Forums to whine, caterwaul, and otherwise disturb the peace of others not interested in trolls, or thing trollish.

However, IF we could put all the trolls on a cruise ship for trollers, send it to sea....then SINK the ship, i might be interested.

It's bad enough having to see what most of the morons type in chat, don't want to have to hear it too.
