So now that WG has forced players to transfer from the old launcher to the game center, I have been unable to update my game due to my college's internet policy for preventing torrenting.

I contacted WG player support who was unsurprising not helpful and my ticket has been on hold for over a week.

Is there anyone in the community who knows a workaround?

OP go to the "settings" in the WGC (gear icon) then "updates" and then click "no uploading".

That should hopefully take care of the problem.  If not, that's all I got.

Good luck.

1) Tether through your phone

2) Use a hotspot enabled by your phone provider

3) Go to a local coffee shop and sponge off their wifi

4) Use your local libraries wifi

5) Ask a friend to download the update to a USB drive

Good Luck!!!

If none of the above work for you hopefully this will.

yes... because a VPN will go around a hardwired firewall...

yeah.  I'd expect college students to have that skill set.  My friends in China seem to be able to figure it out.

A good VPN encrypts the traffic so the firewall wouldn't be able to tell what type of data was or wasn't being sent.  All they could tell with the VPN active is how much data is being sent.  It's pretty standard practice to try to mask connection or data type using VPN.
