sometimes the game does not detect a key release when I am driving. so the tank just drives or turns on its own.

for example, I will turn right, then turn left, but the turn right key release packet was probably lost due to lag, so when I release the left key the tank starts turning right again even though no key is pressed.

Its lag. Or you need a new keyboard. There are a few things to fix lag but if its rare then its probably an over worked point in the line between you and wot so not much you can do.

it is because WG is not properly reseting the key release.

when you release a key on the keyboard, it sends a message to the keyboard buffer that the key was released (a key scan code). if that packet is lost when sent to WG, WG does not know you released the key.

I have to press the same key again in order to stop going in that direction.

if I am playing  a fast light tank and head for a bush and hit the key to stop, it often just starts driving forward again when I release the stop key, and then I get spotted and killed, out of the game with 0 dmg and 0 spotting. it really sucks and happens multiple times per day of playing.

it makes sense that if you press the stop key and do not press the W key the tank should stop. no one has a need to press W and S at the same time.

It's a bad connection. This, along with your post about ghost tanks in Frontline, are evidence of ping, packet loss, etc. on the server. It's possible that you're ISP is to blame, but it could also be your local connection. Check your router and reset if possible. Used a wired connection rather than WiFi, etc.

Not really a bug that WG devs can do anything about as it falls outside their control.

Definitely sounds like a lag or keyboard issue on your part more than an issue on WG's part. The only times I've ever seen this problem have been when I've been losing packets, or when my keyboard has been dying on me.

(Talking about the internet part here) Technically there is probably a way but the overhead would probably be a bit silly (by sending confirmation tokens or whatnot, and resend the message if if you don't receive it in a certain amount of time, so basically TCP.. except most things wouldn't need the resending of packets in the game so it'd be a waste of resources and unnecessary overhead to go with that but you could probably still implement a similar thing in the system that goes over the UDP connection where you can specify what things to do it for, like just the movement keys.. but whether the issue is a big enough problem to look into that.. /shrug  ) :hiding:

Tab out of the game, then enter back in.  I've had problems in the past where the consumable keys would not function.  The alt tab fixed it.  Can try that, or a different port for your usb plug.  Happens very infrequently.

Books also believes the MM is rigged so that if you are winning then it will make you lose and if you are losing then it will make you win.

He doesn't understand anything that happens to him or why.  Good luck to those of you out there still willing to try and explain things to him.

This is not a 'keyboard' issue. When the packet containing the key release is lost, and you press a key for example to change in another direction, the tank should not return to the previous direction it was traveling in when you release the key from the second direction. It is caused by packet loss. It is not a bad keyboard. It is something that should be fixed by developers. When you press a key to change direction, the key release for the opposite direction should assume to have been released. WG is not doing that.

All games that are done over a network have to deal with packet loss. There is no such thing that you only accommodate packet loss for some bugs and not for others. There is no such thing as only fixing bugs reported by some users and not fixing bugs reported by me.

I have reported your post and if you continue to harass me in the forums, along with all of your bully friends, I will continue to report you until you stop harassing me. If you fail to stop harassing me in the forums I will write a letter directly to WG and file a more official complaint.

perhaps an option to change the networking protocol to use a protocol that supports error checking for dropped packets. it would be appreciated. also affects sixth sense not going off.

I believe it because Victor said it at the San Francisco conference.

If you lose games you get easier matchmaking, if you win games you get harder matchmaking.

That is incorrect, or at the very a dishonest presentation of it.  If you lose a lot, MM tries to put you in top tier and if you win too often, it tries to put you down 2 tiers.   That's it.

You have read the warning on the report page right? i wouldn't know about previous posts but the one current one has nothing that i personally find report worthy, and besides, if you feel that someone is "bullying" or "harassing" you then you can just go to the top left of the page, under the banner pressing the fourth square button with the silhouette and click the "My settings" then the "Ignore Preferences" and adding the user and you won't have to deal with it
